These are the problem spots. Alaska has 14 ICU Beds left - and while Delta is subsiding there.... They dont have the capacity for an Omicron surge at all. Delaware has 46 ICU beds left, in the middle of a Delta surge. Rhode Island is the same. Hawaii has 16 beds bed left - it was 24 five days ago. Louisiana has 72 ICU beds left and its not growing much yet, but 100 people have been hospitalized with COVID in the past 5 days - and its sgrowing. MS is in the same spot as LA, but with 86 beds. ID/MT/ND/SD/VT/WY have 302 beds available total but are improving at the moment. Omicron will decimate them.

Slightly over 21K cases in South Africa today on Worldometer, basically identical to yesterday. I hope they don't have a holiday data blackout until January the way the U.S. is about to, but I'm not counting on it, since they're skipping next week's excess death report.

January 16, 2021 We lost one of our guys at work. ___________, in his sixties, died of Covid about a week ago. ______ was a racist who liked to go to the casino and complain that there were too many black people. I'm not surprised he was the first. He seemed like a life-long smoker. I knew this would come for us.
