Both sides were a bit poo poo, though the whole slavery thing does tip the balance, really. Might’ve been interesting if Santa Anna was a bit less of a dick.

The impression I've had is that Tejanos use beans in their chili, whereas meat-only chili is more of an anglo Texan thing. The source though is just my Tejana wife who is a foodie and maintains this position strongly.

Not sure how to respond to this. Like, I’m 90% sure you’re an alien who lost it and decided to break kayfabe on a dead internet forum due to intense isolation and loneliness being so far from home.

Pretty much this. Beans in a ground beef "I'm freestyling this mf on a Thursday night with random spice powders and maybe a chopped onion" chili just makes your dollar go a lot farther. It's filler.

Vegetarian "bean chili" varies from trash to amazing. But at that point I'd just go make pinto beans, rice, and cornbread.

Uh... Kupo?

People are gonna No True Texan their way out of enjoying food.

Enjoy food in all its forms. If you like a well-done steak that’s fine I guess. The only sin you can commit in a meal is to waste food. Do not waste food, especially meat. It’s a real dick move to throw away meat, an animal died for that and likely suffered their whole life. Be sure to eat it all, give it away, or at least compost it.

It’s not like our leaders have any taste. They pretend bricks doused in ketchup are brisket, for God’s sake. If you’re thinking about your food at all you’re light years ahead of those stupid assholes.
