Some of them are. The Birdluminati have (had?) an "intelligence beam" which can change how intelligent someone is, making them super smart or super dumb or anything in between; they accidentally zapped that one tree (which Fenton then made his home, and was later joined there by Lindesfarne), and then zapped a large flower (Daisy) on purpose, to give the Dewclaws a pet and distract them from the stuff the Birdluminati were trying to pull off.

As far as I can remember, those are the only two sentient plants in the strip. Though I might be mistaken: timeline-wise, we're just about at the time where I stopped following this strip daily, so there's quite a bit of uncharted territory ahead.

I did find this, so, gently caress you, E Brown.

quote:

Mounting from the left is just tradition. Soldiers would mount up on their horses left sides so that their swords, anchored over their left legs, wouldn't harm their horses' backs. ... Alternating sides also allows your horse to use muscles on the right and left sides of his spine equally, which helps his back.

I got curious and looked this up, apparently it's heavily based on tradition and anecdote (various cavalry throughout history and what they preferred to do), but horses generally favor their left side slightly. In modern days it's thought to make injury more likely (always stresses the same muscles) and training a horse to be mounted from either side is healthier.

I googled it because I was curious and Robotman was red and yellow with a dicknose. According to Wikipedia there was a storyline that wrapped up Robotman's story and had him return to outer space, and the character's last appearance was April of 2001.

Also apparently the syndicate asked Bill Watterson to add Robotman to Calvin and Hobbes as a condition of syndication, and he refused.
