I didn't like It's a Wonderful Life either. I don't remember it much to be honest but I do remember thinking "what the gently caress" quite a few times. The way things go and how the guy ends up suppressing his perfectly reasonable and valid goals and life desires in service of a wider responsibility that is just expected of him and he is in the end shown to be better off just actually accepting and appreciating it seemed really hosed up to me. Like, I get the moral of the story. I also get that it happens the way it does to better serve the greater point of "you might not be famous or rich but you can still have a big positive effect on lives" But seeing the way it rolled out and over the guys life, I really did not like it & bigtime rubbed me the wrong way.

Soviet movies were certainly their own thing. Like this one, it's cartoon made in (Soviet) Estonia in 1980 it sure ain't something to show very young children: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DUhv7lTAuk There is also a brilliant series of short animated films called "Bank Robbery in (USA/France/Italy)" or something like that, but I can't find it since I can't read cyrilic letters.
