Chicago might have been the first Cow Parade, but apparently there have been 99 (!) Cow Parades all over the world since then. Kansas City had one in 2001 and there's still some hanging around. One of them is in some guy's yard.

The making a comeback line is insulting as gently caress because a lot of times gentrification happens first to a neighborhood that declined real hard and got real bad and then it feeds on a next door neighborhood where people stayed, people kept the place alive, people fought hard for decades for their community, only to watch it be hollowed out and replaced by everything on that bingo board.

I mean, I give it poo poo, but I like the gastropubs and barcade and even that fucker on the unicycle. That stuff mostly exists because someone from here decided to build an escape room instead of moving to Austin or whatever. I'd rather someone open a vegan axe throwing pop art coop that I never go to than leave the building empty and rotting away until a brick falls off and hits a pedestrian walking by. 10 years ago, this place was dead. And it's still kind of dead but at least there are places to get good coffee.
