Posting here because it is the Nintendomost thread.

In Majora’s Mask, I am approaching the end of my second three days.

Is there anything special that I need to do? Do I do the song, go to the clock tower, or just let the time run down where I am?

I've played it on PC, it's pretty cool. I don't even know anything about Lodoss War except that it was apparently somebody's D&D campaign that they made a manga/anime about or something IIRC. Team Ladybug hasn't made a stinker yet, IMO.

Can't tell you how it performs on Switch aside from the fact that it couldn't be that tough on the console, it's a pretty lightweight game.

I'm staying with my brother this Christmas, and he bought a switch for his daughters this year. They are 7 and 9, and so far they seem to have a lot of fun with it. I want to buy them a game before I leave in a few days, and could use some recommendations. They have Mario party allstars, some Mario and Sonic Olympic game and a Lego game. English isn't their first language, and especially the 7 year old had some problems with Mario party since she can't really read English.

So anyway, does anyone have any tips for what I could look for?

For the sake of story progression the way I went about it was: Zero Misson, Returns, Super, and Fusion, with the latter two being completed at the moment.

Returns was weird, with it being mainly hampered with being a remake of a great game for its platform, but a game limited by that very platform. It started slowly and I wasn't hugely fond of it, until a couple of zones in and then it was a blast.

I wasn't a huge fan of the bosses though. I get why they're there, and I appreciate the effort put in them, but they felt like artificially long fights, since you often have a vulnerability window, and frankly Samus didn't not feel as agile as one would like. She's a big target and her ability to avoid a hit isn't great. You couldn't tank like in other metroid games either, since she takes DAMAGE. So I'm very curious how that's been re-worked or not.

In contrast to say HK, where the bosses are also just pattern memorization, I felt the physics were more on target and moving was easier, and you could hit the boss whenever, at risk of losing life.

Just finished Zero Mission.

Wanted to roll into Mother Brain with the full loadout of health and missiles, but FFS that shinespark gimmick is impossible on a regular controller, let alone with a Bluetooth controller.

I now fully understand why people complain about them in Super Smash Bros. That one zillionth of a second delay is actually noticable when you're trying to do something that's entirely reflex.

Without saying too much, dread shows a clear progression/refinement of returns. I think you will like the game.

At the end of returns you get some images in the gallery based on item collection. Getting them all reveals a bit of plot that gets picked up in dread some chozos show up during the metroid quarantine process and kill the chozos that were on sr388! Very surprising to see!

Also, if you're going in chronological order...other m comes after super metroid :q:

I finally caved and got myself a Switch for the holidays. I bought an OLED model at Walmart the day before Christmas eve, it worked great for about an hour before the controllers stopped working in wireless mode, despite being fully-charged. Then I tried to sync my headphones via Bluetooth audio, and that just refused to work outright. Then, the moment I pickup a calico cat in Bowser's Fury, the system freezes and hard-crashes, then I get the orange screen of death. Orange screen of death persists until the day after Christmas, so I just exchange it at Walmart for the non-OLED Mario Kart 8 bundle. No questions asked, but I still felt the need to show the electronics department guy a photo of my orange screen next to my receipt. He was insanely helpful and I'm really just grateful that I have a working Switch. The OLED screen is really just absolutely fantastic and I'm disappointed I got a bum unit but holy poo poo lol the Switch is just an awesome console.

I bought a glass screen protector and an official Nintendo travel case but I am interested if you guys can recommend third-party brands or products for like pro controllers or whatever.

Two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight and barbecue your own drumsticks!

I ran into quite a few Shinespark puzzles in Dread that look truly fiendish. I haven't looked up how to actually do them... but I can already tell they might just be beyond me. I got 100% item completion in Fusion and Zero Mission, but I don't think I have the time, brain power, or patience to do that in Dread. I love the game, but yeesh some of these Shinespark things just look nasty.

I also bought SMTV on sale with my Christmas money. That'll get here in like a week. Plenty of time to finish up Dread.

Finally caved in and bought Blasphemous while it was still on sale. Always wanted to play the game just because of its gorgeous pixel art (Francisco Goya as Metroidvania is one hell of an aesthetic choice), but kept seeing impressions about its high difficulty. Fortunately, the game didn't turn out to be that hard--I mean, I died plenty but dying is part of the game's mechanics anyway. Would recommend.

The difficulty is overblown. It’s not that hard.

Again a very likpatous story
My brother got me a 50 dollar Gamestop gift card for Christmas so I decided to see if I could grab any good deals on physical copies of games I wanted, even though I usually buy digital.

Gamestop had SMTV for 37 dollars and Nocturne for 25 dollars, both brand new, still in the shrink wrap, so I was able to snag them both for only 15 dollars out of my own pocket. Hell, even if I hadn't had the gift card, that still would've been both games for under 70 dollars, way better than buying off the eshop. At least for SMTV, I think if I buy the DLC for Nocturne it'll end up being about the same as if I'd bought it digitally since it's on sale right now on the eshop.

Edelgard is dope because she takes action and is way more proactive than your typical protagonist. She’s the villain on other routes, but the main character makes her chill out on her path. It’s shorter than the other routes but the most different. The front half of the game is still the same so you might want to wait before a replay.
