Roman Reigns fights CM Punk in fantasy warld. Lotsa violins, so littl kids cant red it.

For whatever reason I fondly remember a lot of the early artifacts I pulled as a little 10 year old kid getting starter decks of Revised.

Library of Leng, Ivory Tower, Black Vise, and The Rack. I don’t care about actual cards, only hand size!!

Also I remember thinking Force of Nature was the coolest, most busted creature ever when I was first introduced to MTG just because it was big, lol.

I also have a weird soft spot for Shambling Strider from Ice Age. Multiple games where it beat down my friends.

My favorite card will always be Battle of Wits. I played the poo poo out of that deck back when 9th edition was in standard.

Close second is Enduring Ideal which was responsible for my favorite Extended deck around the same time.

I think howling mine and black vise were my favorites back in the 90s, artifacts seemed rare and special at the time and those actually functioned. But I more recently gave my heart to The Ozolith. Never had so much fun as shifting growing piles of +1/+1 counters to and fro as my opponents repeatedly fail to understand that yes I actually am fine with you killing my creatures, lol, please keep doing so.

Lipstick Apathy
Favorite in 60-card constructed: Spellstutter Sprite. I loving love everything about this card-- the ability to counter a thing, synergy with copies of itself (and other faeries), the ability to be bounced and recurred very easily, with tempo advantage of having another creature on the battlefield-- all for 2 mana, at instant speed.

Favorite in EDH: Wheel of Fortune. It just does so much-- if you're on the play turn 1 you effectively ruin everyone's hands and refill your own, and it comboes with so many things, even more so when you have multiple opponents. Absolute powerhouse of a card, 10/10

Pointless without Royal Assassin

I think my 11-year-old playgroup banned that combo, because how were you going to beat it?

Way back in '93, my playgroup had a bunch of house rules; one of the biggest was that Royal Assassin can't be used on an attacking creature during combat, partly for flavor reasons and partly because it was so overpowered. As talk of how to play the game properly spread over the internet, a lot of the house rules fell away... except that one. We kept that for quite a while.

David Williams does suck, though, I reported him to WOTC when he retweeted a crypto “HODL” video that had like 20 different antisemitic memes in its 2 minute span. He was also a salty little bitch in that Masterchef season.

You do not look terribly noble and yet I feel troubled, attracted, bewitched.

I have a bunch of favorites but my first was manalith. When I was learning the game it was a eureka moment realizing manalith was one of the most powerful cards in the game because of its ability to accelerate your mana and being an artifact it interacted with a bunch of other cards just by existing. I doubled down when I found out manalith is one of the worst examples of what it does.

My favorite cards from my youth are Priest of Titania and Gaea's Cradle. They let me cast Verdant Force and/or Thorn Elemental.

Favorite card more recently is Field of the Dead, because it hosed esper control. But considering the banned state of fotd in basically every format. I'll go with Risen Reef instead.

I loved Meekstone. I also was a big fan of Uthden Troll, Pyroclasm, and Dragon Whelp. And they all were a "combo" with each-other! (In that the troll and whelp were not tapped down by Meekstone, and they all could potentially live through Pyroclasm).

Then Lhurgoyf came out and I wanted them so bad I traded some dual lands for them, ha.
