By the way, DICE has also ended. The official release hasn't caught up to the end yet, but it's only a few chapters away. The unoffical translation is all done though. Honestly, I'm super impressed by their work. I hope the translation group, which was apparently formed just to translate DICE, goes on to do great things in the future, they have some serious talent. If they had been active a few years prior, no doubt they would have been some of the biggest translation groups out there.

As for the ending itself...I'm not quite satisfied? I couldn't really tell you what I wanted, but I'm not sure the ending we got was it. But because the ending isn't officially translated yet, I'll hold my piece. I think DICE is still worth checking out, but there are definitely parts where the author is clearly dragging things out, and it can get tiresome at points. I will say the way they beat X in the end is fairly creative, even if its a little confusing (how did they manage to hide from him???).

Ugh. Even if it ended a year ago it would have been too drug out. I was into it for a little bit but drat did it seem like the author was just stretching it out for no reason. Could not recommend tbh.

Gosu was fantastic tho. Also enjoyed the side characters endings.

Reading ahead to the translated Kubera raws and wow that's a lot of stuff mentioned in season 1 and early season 2 making their appearance now. Ran and Maruna are on one hell of a magic school bus trip through this universe's history.

Newest Kubera chapter:Holy poo poo I think this version of Leez has acknowledged the Ananta name which is how she can casually slap away a fourth stage partial-sura Yuta and mess around with time now.

Also drat the callback to the season 1 episode 100 monologue. :(

Does Ananta have power over time? It's the strongest name, sure, but time travel strong? Plus, time is Vishnu's thing, and it seems unlikely that he would stand for poachers.

Or maybe I'm forgetting one of the seven million minor details in Kubera and it's been said he's a time guy already.

Lol that they've finally managed to teach Maruna compassion and all it took was an epic journey across time and space that took *checks* nearly a literal irl year of updates? Kubera :allears:

e: I say :allears: but this last year has really dragged to be honest. I just don't find Maruna a particularly compelling character.

Weight of Time (5) has Ananta along with Visnu and Kali being mentioned by Chandra as one of the possible beings that sent Ran and Maruna into the past from the future.

The Other Side of the Story (15) also has Ananta showing off his powers and Maruna's noticed that he didn't move normally. Said chapter also has Ananta stating he's close with time.

There's also The Other Side of the Story (4) where Ravana serves as the readers' metaphorical Kakyoin where she lost most of her bees in one instant to Ananta.

Next arc is sounding like it's going to be spicy with that title name at least. I've also been reading the scanlation for Kubera which is more readable than the Webtoons version.

It's up on mangadex and has been keeping pace with the fast pass. There's a gap in season 3 because the translation quality was considered decent until the Weight of Time arc where quality dropped. It also has the special hiatus episodes translated too.

I just caught up with Kubera. I've really enjoyed all the stuff with Maruna/Ran; it's been very interesting to go into the past and meet all these important characters. It's kind of nice to be away from Leez; I'm not a huge fan of her whole arc (or at least it's not that enjoyable to follow). It's never been entirely clear to me why she's so uniquely depressed; she basically suffered a bad tragedy that isn't exactly uncommon for people in this setting and was then betrayed by someone close to her, but after having also formed bonds with other people so it's not like she's all alone. The romance with Yuta is pretty tragic, though. I'm also not really a fan of the "character is so depressed/traumatized that they've grown numb to intense physical pain" trope - pain doesn't work that way! Beyond a certain point, tolerating it isn't a matter of willpower/mindset; you'd just be rendered completely non-functional. If anything, pain becomes psychologically harder to deal with after you've experienced it repeatedly. It's a minor gripe, but always bugs me when it shows up in stories.

Despite generally having worse art (though still good), I feel like Kubera actually does a much better job than Tower of God at showing the massive gaps in power between the entities in its setting. I feel like Tower of God went too big too early, such that everything from a certain point on is just indistinguishable blasts of varying colors/appearances. In Kubera you really get a feel for how overwhelming, say, Sura-fied Nastika are.

This but lol it ended? I am just a few chapters behind but I didn't think they were that close.

Also anyone know where Itaewon Class is translated? The part that I can find is quite enjoyable and nice pacing. The live action drama is on Netflix and well done.

I haven't read the final two chapters yet, wanted to wait for the last one to come out so I could read them together (reading the official release which is a week behind)

but I was pretty much ready for it to be over. I was a little concerned that it might drop into another arc or something and if it had continued I was probably going to drop it so I was glad to see (finale) on next week's chapter thumbnail lol.

I don't feel the ending was particularly rushed for how long the final arc lasted and better it just ended. Would've been cool to see him keep levelling but whatever it had nice action and art and not a huge amount else going for it

started reading Killing Stalking recently.

I'm actually enjoying it, somehow don't find it as hosed up as most people claim.

even though the author themselves claim that KS is a BL manhwa, I think calling KS a horror/thriller manhwa is a better classification.

calling KS a BL manhwa feels like its glorifying abuse and torture and romanticizing this form of Stockholm syndrome type relationship.

BL is mostly a marketing designation (like shoujo and shonen) to target an audience so something can be both a BL and a thriller. That's one of the neat things about it as a genre, is that it's full of variety and there's room to explore hosed up stuff. I haven't read KS because I don't really like to read stuff with that kind of content but it has been *so* tiresome to see people get so scoldy of others for reading it (and other BL manga/manhwa with dark content) because they think depicting something is endorsing it.

I also feel like Lezhin has been chasing the KS audience ever since it ended because it seems like a large portion of the new BL webtoons they add have the "psychological" tag and it's about someone getting tangled up with some kind of psycho or serial killer and I'm just over here trying to sift past those for the fluff ones lol

Eleceed has been one of my favorites for a good while. Cute / wholesome / decent story so far.

Lately I am kinda liking 'Taekwondo Kid' on webtoon. The art is not gonna blow you away but it has its own style. I think what really makes it work is the MC is kind of average trying to get better and the author/artist really capture well the nerves you get before competition etc. Even the really confident martial artists are all kinda low key trying not to freak out before getting on the mat etc and that was really relatable to someone who practiced and competed a lot at that age.

the one that's yanking me around the most is probably Villain Emperor because the leads are constantly getting separated by various plot contrivances and other random poo poo that pops up every time they finally get together, even at one point recently the MC literally dies and gets reborn again as another character in the same story and has to convince the love interest that yes he's the same guy even though he's a totally different person now
it's a wild ride though so it's still fun even though every chapter I'm just like....:psyduck:

(super late edit but this is a manhua not a manhwa so I realize a bit off-theme for the thread, but tbh when I was posting I'd just been in the isekai thread and kinda thought that's where I still was lol)
