The best thing about Herodotus is he's more sceptical about the existence of the British isles than he is about marmot ants that can outrun specifically male camels. I just read the Edith Grossman translation of DQ (so I could read along with the Overdue podcast) and had an absolute blast. It’s basically an incredibly silly romp that almost overstays its welcome.

I didn't read Don Quixote in English so can't say anything about translations but it was a great read and very funny. Absolutely recommend giving it a try.
