No, but I do this myself (actually I have a browser addon that lets me go above 2x)

Hopefully soon I can vote for Nukes. All mankind could come together and pack in, have one great big family meal with all of us together. Singing and dancing and hugging in the streets of every city in the world. Fireworks start, fireworks stop.

also who else caught the "we're going to clean up 30 acres of a multi-state tire dump" because I thought they were pretty clever sneaking that in there. even this thread is acting like the plan was to clean up the whole thing, lol.

agreed. we talk alot about the Kubler-Ross grief model here, and I always try to remember that (5. Acceptance) is kinda a tricky ask when the topic is the death and destruction of humanity and all we ever built... and advocate for a 6th step - Meaning. The dinner scene is meaning. We can laugh and mock it, but for those characters, pretty well out of stages 1-5, thats what it is. Find your meaning while the comet hurtles towards us.

Elect me. I care only about other people's wellbeing, mankind's longevity for thousands of years more, and all the plants and animals and stuff. I have played lots of 4X games so I know how to create civilizations that span millenias. Surely I must thus be the best candidate for the role of Absolute Power.

When you think about it. Mostly old people are in power these days. And already in USA they released 100 000 tons of lead yearly in the 70's. Thats around half a kilogram of lead per year per person. Lead makes people literally aggressive idiots. And they are in power, lording over the people, destroying the planet.

Makes one think!

At least Stalin had a plan for reforesting and refused to capitulate to industry heads who wanted to run a tree credit scheme where they could leave forests in the far East and chop down everything in the western industrial centres.

Most protected ecological regions were undone at his death but a few managed to survive until Putin finally got rid of them a decade ago.

It wouldn't have undone all the emissions needed to modernize but who knows the permafrost might not be melting and releasing all that methane.

why don't we make furniture like we used to???!!

cuz america and europe used to covered by cool dense forests like that and we chopped it all down for firewood and stupid poo poo we threw away and then to build track housing. and prob whatever we haven't cut down is gunna go up in flames at some point.

even just black & white aerial photos from 1930 to today are extremely depressing

but it's okay everyone has mythological fantasties that if 'collapse' happens we can just move to the forests and hunt+gather

I watch and listen to everything at 2x speed. Podcasts, movies, YouTube videos, even just songs I listen too . If I don't I end up pausing every 15 seconds to read something or watch something else for 15 seconds.

I have really bad unmedicated ADHD.
