Lemon sharks are pretty harmless. They’re mostly night hunters, so they’re chill during the day. Maybe a tiny step above nurse sharks on the threat-to-me list.

The Lemon shark migration dives off Jupiter Florida are a hell of a thing to do, if you ever get the chance.

I have heard that about lemon sharks, as well as 'sand' / nurse sharks - that they're pretty chill.

Unfortunately, I take one look at the business end of nature's meat grinder there, and figure that this is the day they have a toothache, fight with spouse, swam through a pile of car batteries, etc.

Dude, ix-nay on the oice-vay.

Yep. Those were a lot of good dogs. The pibble that sadly attempted to sleep in the cat’s bed because the cat took its bed was great.

Many others were also also great because dogs.

Here’s a a super weird dog. The video reminds me of the big cat rescue’s “never turn your back on a big cat”

Well if it's any consolation people taste terrible to sharks, it's why most shark attacks are single bites. They get one taste of human and go "this isn't a seal" and leave you alive. If sharks wanted to eat people we'd be getting a lot more missing persons reports from the beach.

This is true. Life is hard when you're a shark and you're curious about something, but the only way you have of investigating a thing is your mouth of razors.

In Ireland if you see a red squirrel you let it go their way.

But if you see a grey squirrel then you are legally obliged to kick it's face off.

Are grey squirrels English transplants by any chance?

Reds squirrels are native to the UK and Ireland Grey squirrels are north American I think . They are treated sort of like an invasive species. People want to re introduce pine martens here (the UK) to redress this as they would hopefully let the reds get their numbers back up.

e- I looked it up:

"Squirrels in the UK

There are two species of squirrel in the UK; red squirrels and grey squirrels. Populations are currently estimated at approximately 140,000 red squirrels and 2.5 million grey squirrels. Red squirrels are our native species and have lived in the UK for around 10,000 years, Grey squirrels were introduced to the UK from North America by the Victorians in the 1800s, the first record of them escaping and establishing a wild population is 1876.

Can red squirrels and grey squirrels live together?

Unfortunately not. Grey squirrels compete more successfully than red squirrels for food and habitat. They are larger and more robust, and can digest seeds with high tannin content, such as acorns, more efficiently. This forces red squirrels into other areas where they can find it more difficult to survive.

Grey squirrels also transmit a squirrelpox virus which can normally kill red squirrels. Once infected, red squirrels often die of starvation or dehydration.

Why do red squirrels need protecting?

Grey squirrels are a familiar sight for many people across large parts of the UK and are often seen in parks and gardens, whilst the range of our native red squirrels is now limited to certain areas of the UK, such as Anglesey, parts of northern England and Scotland. In many cases they have retreated to wilder, remote locations. Unfortunately, without conservation management, red squirrels could become extinct in England in approximately 10 years. Time is really running out to save our red squirrels.

To preserve red squirrels, they must be kept apart from grey squirrels as the two species cannot live together long term. The map below illustrates this as it shows that grey squirrels have replaced red squirrels across almost all of England and Wales."

Pine Martens are the cutest little predator this side of cats but I don't think it's a good idea to fight invasive species with other animals.

I think what they would do is re introduce them in specific environments (like forests) alongside new red squirrels. Then just let them naturally expand.

Reintroduction

Unfortunately reintroduction initiatives almost always stall over here

We've been about to reintroduce wolves for like 5 decades now. The latest sticking point was 'what if one of the Royals is out on their land and all the wolves immediately home in on them because wolves are all working class and republican in sentiment'. Paraphrasing.

I think Beavers have been guerrilla reintroduced with low key acceptance by authorities. Basically there was an official initiative but no one was doing anything so it just got done impromptu. loving shambles.

OwlFancier

I believe pine martens are also native to the UK but currently extinct.

Also yes some madlad is stuffing the fens with beav which is pretty cool.

Pine martens seem like a weird one to object to because they probably couldn't eat even the slower, smaller royals. Not that I think that is an issue of course if the royals want to proclaim they're royal they should loving fight a wolf about it IMO.
