I'm thinking about this OP. I legitimately liked looking at a distance and tracing along ridges and rooftops how to get to a certain area. I think if your brain isn't great at 3D spatial stuff you might have issues though.

I personally found Chiyoda extremely frustrating to navigate. I appreciate what they were trying to do with the area but I spent far too long trying and failing to get where I wanted to go. That said, for some reason I had an easier time finding the Miman in Chiyoda than in Taito.

Idun owns and her skill that's basically Luster Candy plus a heal is incredibly useful. Too bad it costs all the loving MP, and I still can't buy MP restoring items from the shop. That's a big reason why I haven't bothered with Merchant's Favor. The shop seems largely useless since the only thing I would like to buy from it isn't in there, so why would I need to decrease prices?

I think I finished my first playthrough (normal, all the sidequests except the secret superboss) at close to 100 hours. You definitely don't have a lot left.

After you get that last item, you'll unlock a final dungeon, similar to what you did in the third area, but it's not especially grueling. Maybe 5 or so more hours depending if you gently caress around and fuse stuff? The final area has some optional bosses as well.

Do you have access to any Healing Sutras? If you give them to her you'll raise her healing proficiency, which lowers the cost of Golden Apple.

Yeah I had a Healing Sutra, it did lower Golden Apple from 126 to 107. Which is definitely nice, but I only had the one.

If you're not doing it already, I like to combine Golden Apple with the skill Bowl of Hygieia which charges up heals so they overheal and temporarily increase your max HP. You can get it from Parvati's essence. On most major fights I was starting with Idun doing Bowl of Hygieia + Golden Apple so everyone had full buffs plus an expanded max HP pool.

There are a ton of Miman that are visible in plain sight from any camera angle except the one you'd have if you were just progressing through the area as normal.

Does macca become easier to come by later? I’m guessing it does, but I was registering all my demons and I just beat the first boss and one of my demons costs 42k to resummon. Which is…a lot.

Battles are starting to feel slow, are there any naturally good demons people suggest to use for standard encounters? Aside the the Nahobino that is.

I thinking maybe just getting some good demons and trying to blast through the end to wrap it up.

Speaking of the fourth area, I only just got here and took out a few abscesses, but it really feels like the more open nature of this part of the game means there isn't as clear a progression in terms of battle difficulty. You've got level 54 Loup-garous that barely pose any threat a few short hops away from level 72 Yamata no Orochi pileups that can demolish your entire team with one Titanomachia.

On the other hand, that one abscess with four level 99 early game demons is pretty funny.

Also, I ran right past the leyline fount by the monk several times and completely missed it every time.

Money does get easier to find as the game goes on, but the compendium can be kind of expensive.

If you’re playing on Hard, note that increases the compendium prices. When you go to register demons, it’ll tell you how much registering the current version will increase the summoning price, too.

The more annoying thing about Miman is that even when you pay Chironnup the miman icons only appear on parts of the map that you have filled in.
I couldn't find the 200th Miman with no icons left on the map of any area, and it turned out he was just hanging around next to Tokyo Station on a tiny corner of the "room" that wasn't filled in on the map.

Wait, you can talk to demons with other demons? Or are the unique interactions just if they happen to be in your party?

I'm about halfway through Chiyoda (I guess) and I can see why people were annoyed by this place, I don't think it's too bad yet at least but it definitely is a bit more complicated than the previous areas. Seeing giant Surt swinging around his giant flame sword was loving cool as hell, seeing that was awesome. Guessing he probably won't be that big when I fight him though.

And speaking of sizes, I was fighting a demon (I forget which one) and attacked it with Sukuna-Hikona and I was like "Whoa, wait, is this demon I'm fighting like twice as big as the ones I've fought up to this point?" Then my MC attacked the demon and I realized the demon was normal size, it's that Sukuna-Hikona is small. Just a tiny little dude in a tiny little boat.

I felt like I got stuck a couple of times just making progress and was relieved when I got through, but then you have to go back a second time and destroy all of the pillars to make the boss fight a breeze. My advice is to not backtrack until you unlock the Miman locations so you can kill two birds with one stone.

I'm in the Castle now and I kind of feel like this might be a proof of concept for Etrian Odyssey VI. It's neat.

This. For example, if you talk to a Kurama Tengu with Yoshitsune in your party (it doesn't matter if he's in your active party or in your stock), instead of normal negotations Yoshitsune will pop out and the two will have a little conversation about the good old days when Yoshitsune was training under the Kurama Tengu (as the real-world mythology around the man says). Usually special conversations like this result in the demon giving you a gift of some kind (items, macca) and then disappearing. You can only get them once, I think, next time you talk to the same demon you'll just get normal negotiation.

It's both. There's a miracle you need for demons to be able to talk, but once you have that it doesn't matter what demon starts the conversation. You just need the relevant one somewhere in your stock.

You do not need the "talk with demons" miracle to have special conversations. All that does is give you the Talk action with demons, like the one that lets them use items.

I've only just become aware that there's some stuff I need to do for the "true" ending. I'm on October 29th (entering the casino) and apparently have to get Akechi to rank 8 before November 18th. He's at 4 now. Is this even possible? Especially considering that the game has barely allowed me to do any social links for the last 2 weeks

If it's not possible, does it really matter? Is the ending significantly different or better? No spoilers please!

I've got Maruki on rank 9 so hopefully should still be able to unlock the third semester, as I understand it

Ask me about personal watercraft.
Got to the end of the final dungeon and Metatron was kinda underwhelming. I'm playing on hard and my MC was level 79, but the boss' signature attack did did sub 100 damage, though I think that's partly Celo's doing, I know she's an OP dlc demon, but I have debilitate/Luster Candy on Norn as well, so I don't think it would have gone differently had I omitted her. I lucked out with getting Boost Boon EX on her as a random skill, so that stacked with normal boost boon meant one frolic and two luster candies would keep me maxed the whole fight, then combined with Trisagion on the MC and Ra, and using Gungir on Odin meant that it was over in about 3 rounds.

Anywho, I was debating trying for the secret ending on the first playthrough, so I made a save before the fight, since I have all the other requirements filled, but I understand the recommended level for the superboss is 99, but I imagine it's doable at a lower level? I only need 6 more levels before I can dump all my Gospels on the MC, so might as well.
