I wonder how repeatable Arcsys' art stuff is these days. I know the first version of it took forever with Xrd, but they really seem like they nailed down the process to do "2d in 3d" really effectively

What's the best resources for getting into Tekken these days? I last played back in TTT2 and no longer have any memory of whats going on in there at all so anything is good. I do like text more than videos for like, learning but either is fine tbh.

Their guides aren't comprehensive, but if they've done one on a character you like, dive in. Otherwise there's not any kind of one stop shop for info anymore. Who are you trying to learn? I can try to point you to the right players to follow at least. Text based tekken stuff seems to have been wholly eaten up by joining discords to find google docs, which is the shittiest way to manage a community.

Honestly not sure yet, I really like Lidia's look from her trailer but i won't get time to sit down with the game for real until tomorrow, so I'll ask if somebody sticks out to me from noodling around in training mode. Thank you for the channel rec tho, I'll def check it out!

The player Fergus wrote up a pretty good google doc that has brief overviews of each character's strengths, weaknesses, general gameplans and their approximate difficulty. It's not the end all be all and just play who you like, but it might be quicker to gloss over this for stuff you like in a character than booting everyone up in training mode. This document is sorta the quick go-to bible on characters if you open them in training. Has all their punishment, a handful of key moves to focus on, and some beginner to intermediate combos for all their major launchers. Even once you know what you're doing, it's good to keep this on hand since it also has throw breaks for everyone and is a very good tool once you start experimenting with other characters and want to immediately feel like you sorta know what you're doing. If you like written stuff more than videos, a happy medium is XiangsGaming, they have semi up to date guides on everyone and it's mostly written content with video examples accompanying the text on screen.

There's a game that just came out for the various console eshops called Fight 'n' Jokes that I bought on a whim. It fascinates me because it apparently originally came out 25 years ago and I've never heard about it at all. Then again, I believe it was only available for DOS in Europe, so the only way it really lived on was through making up obscure MUGEN characters. It's surprisingly competent, coming off as a cross between Clay Fighter (without the rushed development), Pocket Fighter and your average NGPC fighter. Good animations, colorful character designs, backgrounds look great and it even has rollback for the two people who want to play against each other online.
