I remember getting to that first room in Myst and never being able to figure it out and never playing it again. Maybe I should give it another shot

We had a PC in the house from as far back as I can remember. I can remember playing stuff like Decathlon and Sargon III on a green monochrome monitor. Console-wise I had an Atari 400 with the membrane keyboard, then an 800XL that had basic onboard (ooo, fancy), then an NES/SNES and then life happened.

Funny enough I just played and beat quake for the first time ever the other day. Pretty fun! Though the Bethesda remaster lowers your health to 50 on nightmare which is an absolute pain in the rear end and I didnt realize that wasnt a normal thing till I was already on episode 4.

COVID times are weird. I did an outdoor pub-ed for a preschool over the summer where we put on our turnout gear and went on air so they could hear how we sounded and not be scared. On one of the rotations I managed to get a gnat into my face piece and inhaled. The pressure off the air tank slammed that fucker down my throat and I spent the next 10 minutes hacking my lungs out trying to explain to everyone in the next group that no I'm not sick, I inhaled a bug. Good times.

I feel like just wearing a mask makes me cough more. Probably because I have to breath and talk harder, and there's a decent chance I'm sucking in tiny little cloth particles. Had a meeting today where all of a sudden I kept coughing because it felt like something was stuck in my throat.

Still it was only 5 dollars to sub for a month and the 2nd part is definitely going to be worth it. Also the entire thing was programmed in Hypercard, which was basically early Powerpoint. Played part of it and liked it but got pulled away by other stuff before finishing it.

One of my earliest PC games was Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Trainer, which sounds awesome but all you did was fly planes and there was no shooty stuff. Also no oh poo poo my experimental plane is going down stuff. You just flew around and it wasn't all that hard I don't think unless you wanted to see how fast you could go down. Which is cool for a certain person, but it seemed much less cool for a 10 year old me or whatever I was. My dad absolutely loved it and got a fancy joystick controller solely to play that game.

Mine was NBA Jam / Mario World 2 / Star Wars (the one where there's a speeder driving section). All for SNES. I'm not old enough for Commodores or Ataris, in fact the first system I actually owned myself was the N64. My parents wouldn't buy me video games when I was young (we didn't have cable television either, they were kinda hippies), so this was an older neighbor boy's. He barely let me play them either, I got like one turn for four of his. To be fair it was probably torture watching me play because I was a little kid who had never played video games in his life

Man, I miss good flying games. I don’t think there many good ones on console. I played that Chuck Yeager one in shareware, as well as this other primitive flight game called Corncob 3d that was a ton of fun. I used to play the poo poo out of the big fighter sims like Falcon 3.0 and Tornado, and Janes Fighters Anthology was my jam. So good in multiplayer for the late 90s. They had a WW2 aerial game too that was a monster and I never quite had the horsepower to run it at full detail. There was a fun helicopter sim too but I can’t remember the name of it. Had Apaches and Comanches and Cobras and it struck a good sim/entertainment balance. Got a lot of mileage out of that one. It might’ve been a Janes but I can’t remember right off.
