The tusken massacre isn't necessarily a fridging incident, since that will depend on what Fett does in the aftermath. If he goes on a blood feud, yeah that's fridging. If he just continues to wander because he's a simple man trying to make his way in the universe, that's just another attempt to rebuild his life blowing up in his face.

I dig the show so far, I just thought the chase itself was pointless and it looked really constrained and cheap on top of that. Nothing had any weight or sense of real speed to it and it was all set on the same boring block and a half of tight streets. You have access to The Volume, you could have easily had the bulk of the chase take place outside the city center and into a setting that could actually help you convey tension and urgency.

I actually don't think there was really any urgency to convey for the chase, even "in world" - ultimately they just chased this guy down to get information on who the rival crime syndicate was, it wasnt life or death theyd have found that out eventually anyways. I think Fett flying in at the end says he could have done it himself the whole time but he sent the vespa squad to see what they can do. They could have done with a more speedy "feel" to allow for some higher tension for sure though. I think 3 of the 4 remaining episodes are directed by non-RR directors, but RR gets the finale ... Curious to see if it really is just the style clash between him and star wars that makes me like his episodes less. I loved Alita & Sin City 1 but I think his cheap looking aesthetic is the wrong fit for Star Wars.

I mean, we are talking about a world where half of Darth Maul survived falling down a bottomless pit, Anakin Skywalker literally turns into charcoal, a regular guy survives getting put into a gold brick, and I'm still not sure Palpatine is actually once and for all dead. poo poo, the only guy I'm definitely sure is dead is Jango Fett, because his head came off. And only the head part is definitely dead because there were those weirdo headless guys.

The guy who's hauling plumbus roots in his space honda that's been running since Yoda was smooth just needs his shitbox to get from the labor district to the city center and doesn't care about doing it in style. The Space Akira Bike Gang probably has like micro-force-fields so their banana yellow paint stays safe from the sands. This is completely accurate to real life in poverty-stricken areas. People cling to whatever color they can and try to keep it bright and creative.

Arc Hammer posted:Rodriguez is really one of those take it or leave it directors and there never seems to be an in between of loving or hating his stuff. I've seen nearly everything the man has done until around 2010, and liked most of it. Haven't seen the newer stuff, but from what I've seen him do in the Star Wars area, the Stormtrooper fight in The Mandalorian is the closest I came to recognizing his action-oriented kinetic style. These two episodes feel off, somehow, like someone is holding him back, or like his heart's not in it. Jerkface posted:

I just wish they made him some kind of character. Why does he want to be a crime boss? Why is he about honour and mercy? Does he bear any ill will towards Jabba, Luke or Han? Is he just a guy who's decided the path to survival is getting people to pay you insurance money? Because that seems to be his only characteristic.

Give me all the pimped out Vespas with a top speed of leisurely amble per hour. Mint green and chrome and two dozen wing mirrors, stat. They felt very in keeping of George's well documented love of 50s/60s hotrod style racers, and it's doubly hilarious with the evil biker gang very much being more like a traditional Rocker bunch. The Book of Boba Fett building up to a Mods v Rockers face off, they should release it on a bank holiday imo. I liked them, and the 'house guest' scene, and Danny showing up with a Good Boy but overall thought it was much weaker that last week's ep and I really hated the (not unexpected) reveal in the flashback. And generally speaking, Boba just comes over as hopelessly outmatched and far too weak to be a boss. It's like Michael Corleone trying to run New York with just Al Neary, Rocco, and a couple of mooks while everyone else has capos by the bucket load. Hopefully it's a long con but he just seems too outnumbered and decent for it of late. Icon Of Sin posted:Jfc Krrsantan is terrifying IKR? I would not want to spill his pint.
