Yeah that's unusable, coming from someone that has a strange joy in recovering resin casts Like even as terrain bits you'd have to shave so much off that you may as well just 3D print something

I'm humble enough to admit that 99% of the stuff I see online, even stuff that looks pretty bad, is still more than I could probably do if I gave it 100%. That being said... God drat, I'm pretty sure I could do a better job of that, and I've never cast resin before..

Model makers just need to suck it up and send their stuff to be made in a professional casting house. It's a world of difference between aa hobbyist DIY-ing some resin casting setup and learning on the fly vs having a mature setup and institutional knowledge of how to do poo poo. It goes double if you're casting anything big and/or complex. It's one thing to cast a copy or two for your own modelling use but reproductions for commercial sale only be done by professionals. You'll get better results just getting a bunch of 3D printers and running those since once those are dialed in they should be relatively reliable. Playing with sillicone moulds, pressure pots and two part resins is a full time job. Edit - just saw that gargant - are those uncleaned layer lines from the print? Good grief.

Z the IVth posted:Edit - just saw that gargant - are those uncleaned layer lines from the print? Good grief. Not only uncleared layer lines from the initial pre-cast print, but areas where the print layers have torn apart before the mould was made! And yeah, not only are the moulds bad, the casting is bad, like 99% of the rivets are destroyed by bubbles and there's even a bit on one of the feet where it looks like the mould's been crushed or something as there's a notable dent. Pretty sure salvaging it will involve flattening off all the rivets and patching it up with plasticard panels.

Holy gently caress, those rivets. Ok my cast is great in comparison. I have those same print lines showing up on large flat surfaces though.

What's the current state of Underworlds? Can we expect some new warbands to be revealed any time soon? I don't play the game but I love the models, so I'm always keen to see if there's anything coming down the pike.

Finished my first batch of Deathwing Termies for Space Hulk. I magnetized most of them for equipment swaps depending on what version of the game we want to play. This is actually the second time I've done these, I finished about 15 of them and then stripped them all and started again. What a difference a year + better tools makes.

Is there any general goon blood bowl discord or anything these days? The IRC kinda fell apart before discord came around and I was hoping someone else picked up the mantle. I've decided to take the plunge of IRL games again

Not sure of a goon discord, but PM me if you happen to be in the Northeast US and I'll hook you up with the cross-league tabletop discord for it. Alternatively if you're elsewhere in the US I can try and get someone to point you to a more local channel. Woodstock fucked around with this message at 15:00 on Jan 9, 2022 |

Just wrapped up 2k worth of 3d printed orcs for Warmaster / KoW. Was able to print a few Skaven characters for an older metal army. Trying to decide between Vampire Counts or Lizardmen next.

All of these are from Green Skin Miniatures except the 'giant' which was just a thingiverese rescale of a model called "orc golem" or something. He's about to start Araby on his patreon, which is cool because I don't think you can really find any other options for them out there. As for other sources here's what I've found personally, if anyone else has any feel free to add. Also almost all of these have patreons as well which will add more of course. https://darkgref.gumroad.com - Beastmen, Lizardmen, Tomb Kings, Nippon, Chaos, some Elves https://wakesemporium.gumroad.com/?sort=highest_rated - Orcs & Goblins, some Epic stuff too. https://forestdragon.gumroad.com/?sort=page_layout - Chaos, Wood Elves, High Elves, Vampire Counts, https://www.myminifactory.com/users/WarpMiniatures/collection/10mm-fantasy-range - Undead Pirates, Halflings, Beastmen https://cromartyforge.gumroad.com/?sort=newest - Lizardmen, Skaven, various historicals you could run as Empire, Kislev, etc. https://ankylo.gumroad.com/?sort=newest&tags=10mm - Demons, Ogre Kingdoms, Empire, Skaven, Chaos Dwarves https://minirat.gumroad.com/?sort=page_layout - Empire https://varusminiatures.gumroad.com/?sort=page_layout - Dwarves, Chaos (Nurgle) Since Araby is going to be covered soon I guess I'm missing Dwarves, Dark Elves Edit: Updated Forest Dragon and added Minirat and Varus. Leperflesh posted:Those are w325bgdPGx original sculpts, and not clones of GW sculpts, right? Sorry, but I have to ask. Yeah, the worst you could say is that they're fan art of GW figures. They're 10mm and rebuilt from the ground up. There's a bunch of jank files like low-res scans and videogame rips on Thingiverse, and they're the first thing to pop up when you're looking for anything.

Thanks for the input, changed my last post. I'm also trawling through Epic sources as I've been on a 40k in 15mm kick recently. If anyone has a lead on Necron or not-lovely Tyranid stls I'd be grateful. I did some test prints of 28mm stuff scaled down but they're just way to spindly and fragile compared to a nice beefy 6mm sculpt scaled up.

I backed one on KS for epic-scale plague Marines, and I think it was less than a month from "end of kickstarter" to "all of the stls provided in both supported and unsupported formats". Though I guess when you already have the 3D renders done up for the kickstarter itself, there's not that much work left to go when all is said and done.

Looks great! That was a fantastic deal, I really hope he's planning to do more. It might be industry chat, but I wonder if the blowout value pricing does better than the typical "$10 patreon and 50% MMF" scheme because you effectively make it cheap and easy enough that it's an auto-purchase.

I am dying to find someone selling those plague marine prints. I can't get a 3D printer because the amount of legacy and basement casting Epic/Warmaster stuff I have is absolutely ridiculous and recording equipment takes up the rest of the room in my hobby hole. A printer would only complicate things.
