I agree that the military line there is a little... misplaced, I guess, but the first season at least (never got around to the second one) dealt pretty heavily with veterans' issues, so that's a reasonable perspective for him to have. He's (hopefully) not saying that soldiers should view themselves as the Punisher.

well he did season 2 so he didn't care that much

It depends on how important it is to the Netflix portrayal of the Punisher to explicitly show intense violence. There's no chance in hell a future Spider-Man movie would have Bernthal dragging a character's face through broken glass but I don't think that means he has no place in any MCU movie or show as a vigilante who murders criminals. Edit: On that note, I'm interested in seeing how far they go with violence in the Moon Knight series.

Yeah, the first season and Daredevil season definitely both dealt a lot with kind of the struggle of being trained as a soldier and then betrayed and thrown back into society. And it did a good job making that the focus of his anger and revenge so the character didn't venture deeper into its problematic area. I'm still not sure you have the degree of reverence for the character that Bernethal seems to have. The Netflix shows really walked the line of "maybe Frank's right and we should kill a bunch of people." I've also never seen the second season. I don't think you could really fit Punisher into an Avengers movie but if the MCU is diversifying then I guess you could do something with him in a side project. If stuff like Hawkeye and Echo are gonna be closer to the Netflix Defenders stuff and even a bridge to them then maybe that's a whole "Marvel Knights" side path for more gritty stuff? And we got Moon Knight and Blade coming so maybe they are too? We'll see.

I hope they go to James Gunn and say "you do deadpool 3, you can do basically whatever you want". I imagine it would be sorta like Shoot 'em Up, but then have a real gut punch emotional moment.

It doesn't really matter who directs Deadpool because it's a primadonna show.

Watched the first episode of Peacemaker and it was pretty fun. I kind of like the idea of Cena playing a meathead who thinks he is better than he actually is. Had some good chuckle moments and hope it continues to do so. Anyone watch Naomi? I don't mind the character, just the way Bendis has been using her in the comics.

I liked their X-Men casting back in 91. Robert DeNiro as Wolverine!! He never pops the claws though, he just DeNiro-kicks Toad over and over

I was watching a youtube video about cop shows a while back and was surprised to see that during the entire time he was on Arrow David Ramsey was also a recurring guest star on the CBS drama Blue Bloods.

I love it, but I can definitely see why people don't like it. I found it odd that they brought Vigilante on, considering he was on Arrow. Though you know what that means..... DIAZ IS RIGHT BEHIND THE CORNER

I mean, the DC Arrowverse is separate from the movies (and "officially" separate universes in the multiverse) and they've had two of much bigger characters like Flash and Superman and they were weirdly non committal on if the second Suicide Squad movie is a sequel to the first one. So I doubt "we can't have two Vigilantes!" ever was a conversation that anyone had.

# ? Jan 14, 2022 13:28 |

Yeah I get that, just seems there's billions of other characters they could use instead. But then again we did have Suicide Squad in Arrow too.

Yeah. My guess is a character that small it never even was a thing. But the weirder thing is that two different properties WANTED to use Vigilante.
