started out real strong then the chorus hit and the Oh Oh Oh refrains deflated all my hype. What even is that chorus choreo too? Rest of the song and sound is solid but that is such a weak refrain.

Wa Da Da goes hard, especially the beginning. I like it. Don't really care much for the choreo though. Gave MVSK a couple listens, and I'm vibing with it a bit more.

I love all three of the new tracks, but I'd probably put See The Light and MVSK over Wa Da Da-- though I really like it.

The three songs from GP999 are all still good. O.O.O. is still the best signal song period imho.

First time hearing these GP999 tracks. They're all so much better than Wa Da Da imo. Digging Kep1er overall. MVSK is a dope track.

Wa Da Da is no La Vie En Rose as far as debut songs go

the parts of the chorus where Bahiyyih does something different than everyone else are weird, like I don't think I've seen something like that deliberately put in a dance before

They changed it up for the Debut Show choreo, it looks a lot less out of place now.

WADADA is a fun teen crush bop, I feel like it could have used a little more chordal movement in the verse or prechorus tho (edit: definitely the verse, the prechorus is basically the only chordal movement in the entire song)? It just kinda sits right on tonal center the entire time. That said, it's catchy as hell, and I already found myself singing along to the chorus the 2nd time it came around, and it sure made me want to move.

That said, holy poo poo MVSK. Maybe not enough of an upbeat banger to be the TT, but it's absolutely the best song on the album.

Sadly no full cams for MVSK or Shine yet. I hope they exist somewhere. Otherwise I hope MVSK gets performed on music shows along with WA DA DA.

woo!ah! managed to release a song that's not bad for once, the first 30 seconds is bland but the chorus is great, it's like the complete opposite of their last title track where the chorus was the worst of the year

That's usually how it goes with members who have a lot of fans and antis.

And only got in because their brother is in TXT lmfao

Centusin

And Yujin only got in because she was in a group for 7 years that people felt sorry for? Who cares, popular people win popularity contests, only people with a weird grudge still bring up the TXT thing when she was a completely fine performer on the show that didn't make any mistakes or obviously lack in any areas. May sailed through almost the entire show with zero screentime but nobody cared that it was just because she's in Cherry Bullet and Yujin's friend. It was fine for some people to have pre-existing fanbases voting them, but apparently not fine for one particular person.

esperterra

Yujin did great all season and had storyline, her being in a failed group might have had something to do with it, but tbh I think she would have been a lock either way. If having a pre existing fanbase for the debuted girls was that big a boost, Bora or any of the other CheBul girls who performed well would have sailed in as well. The difference here is Bahi's connection to one of the biggest boy groups currently promoting. She was getting hella votes from people who aren't even generally GG or GG survival show fans.

I knew Bahi would get in despite not performing as well as others throughout the show and giving the producers nothing worth editing into a storyline, it's an audience vote so of course a lot of it skews to popularity. I was just giving some insight into why her fancams are always hella viewed even if she is the most complained about member. Her baked in fanbase from TXT boosts it enough + all the weirdos who want to watch it to complain about her.

I didn't want Bahi to debut if she didn't improve (which she didn't during the show, but seems to have since the finale at least. i think she actually shows personality for once in MVSK) but made my peace with it by like the third episode lmfao.

re: May she tbh had more of a boost from being a J group vote. She made it that far because she was recognizable and people had to vote J for several episodes whether they had picks or not. Jiwon was cut earlier despite performing way better, for instance.

Nah BM was just around to look hot. They did some podcast stuff together at dive a time or two, and he was having his solo around the same time so it was some cross pollination support sort of thing.

The Super Yuppers MV is absolutely perfect. It's ridiculously campy in the best way, and made with such a clear love and understanding of what it's parodying. Dayoung's overdramatic shoujo anime heroine bridge is just... :discourse:

Depends on the show, tbh. They all have requirements as far as physical sales and digital charting, some of them have attendance requirements, some of them have a live vote component and/or expert's score, and so on. Fans can in some cases tip the scales for their fav if they're close via voting or big physical sales. But that's highly dependent on the show and how everything is weighted in the final score. Oh, and pretty much everything is weighted on a scale of who you're up against. So while one week you might get full points for physicals with 120k sold, maybe the next week Seventeen drops their new comeback and now 700k is the bar for max points.

Regardless of their precision as a gauge of exact popularity, they are a pretty good indicator of what's popular and/or selling. Wins are also still highly regarded within the industry as validation of success. SK has so many different streaming services and charts that it's hard to point to something like topping the Billboard Hot200 as a measure of everyday success, so music shows sort of fill that day-to-day success tracking consolidation purpose.

There are some practical benefits to show wins, such as being invited on more variety shows, Kingdom/Queendom requiring a win to be in the competition, CF deals, etc. I think it’s mostly just an easy metric for overall popularity.

It’s also a big deal to the artists. Dreamcatcher have talked about wanting a show win a few times and how much it would mean to them, which is why that fan base is so adamant about it. Even Key got very emotional when he got a solo win despite having countless wins and being in the industry for so long.

It also tends to be a much bigger deal for smaller groups/companies in general. Especially for groups in companies that hold perks like getting your phone back behind a first win.

Most trainees and then rookie groups have a no personal phone rule. Usually it's time based or first win based. Sometimes both if you don't get a first win before the however many year period is up.
