Having said that, I will also say that I secretly wanted them to do the thing from the old "Tales of the Bounty Hunters" book where we see what he suffers inside the Sarlacc.

I know it wouldn't have worked as a show but I'd have watched it.

So they are popping hurt Pigman into the Bacta tank. Can we get Pigman flashbacks next episode? Perhaps of his daring rescue of Bib Fortuna and Max Rebo from the pleasure barge accident.

Speaking of Jizz. Having just learned about mod culture, does this gang love Jizz? Or is Jizz too mainstream in this universe? Either way, Boba needs to recruit a house band next episode to keep the crews morale up after sparing the teddy bear that tossed them around,

Why don't you go ahead and tell me why reminding people still very much affected by the act of slavery about it in the most kid-friendly franchise of all time is essential to the experience.

Because that's weird. You are being weird.

From the article...

quote:

In the original interview with JediNews, however, Frederiksen claims that Slave I is a name "Disney doesn't want to use anymore," which suggests a wider-reaching directive. Although Disney hasn't officially explained the decision (or even confirmed such a decision has been made), the shift could be due to negative connotations of the word "Slave." Compared to 1980 when Slave I first roared into theaters, the world is far more attuned to racial issues, and the world "slave" is, understandably, not used as casually in fictional media. Despite the acquisition of action-based franchises such as Star Wars and Marvel, Disney remains a family-friendly company, traditionally eschewing any potential for controversy or offence - more so than another studio might. This likely played at least some part in Slave I being renamed "Boba Fett's Starship."

The name change on Boba's ship seemed relevant to the overall conversation about Disney's influence on the franchise and the quality of the show.

I'm not like... supporting actual slavery though.

My roommate put it best when he said this iteration of Star Wars feels thoroughly "PG" by contemporary standards while the Original Trilogy had an edgier 1980's definition of "PG" with creature horror, etc.

This feels like it went too far in the other direction with a lot of shots that were too quickly cut. The chase was meant to be goofy so removing one visual gag entirely but then leaving the ending of several other gags without any setup just made it feel like a jumbled mess.

I think the overall speed of the chase was increased a bit? The last bit including the wipeout felt faster imo and that was an improvement. But overall I didn't think it was better than what was presented in the show. I think much of the criticism is just how the entire scene was executed, and simply shortening the length of shots doesn't fundamentally change that.

HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE DEAD, MOTHERFUCKER?

A dude got headshot in full center frame and a rodian got crunched horrifically by a sand monster. There were multiple stabbings of a wookie.

I dont think BOBF is any less edgy than any other star wars property.

The Slave 1 discussion is stupid, as I said before they never say the name of the ship in the movies and it's only said twice in the animated shows. This all started because the LEGO SET for the slave 1 is called "Boba Fett's Starship" which guess what they also call Red 5 "Luke's X Wing" or whatever. It's better for SEO. Being upset that a boba might rename his ship is definitely leaning into the kind of crazed right wing thinking that dominates way too much pop culture discourse even if one of the reasons actually is Disney wanting to not have a signature ship named Slave 1.

there is exactly 1 famous ship in star wars which gets spoken by name and you know it already. That's right Max Rebo's "Jizz Machine" which Disney loves.

I suspect that Boba will actually rename it the Respectful Rancor by the end of the series.

I assume you're posting sarcastically but just the same:

You can still say Slave I or Slave Leia or whatever the hell you want. Nobody is stopping you and they're not being erased or censored (even though "Slave I" is never even said out loud except for maybe a couple times in Clone Wars). Idiots don't realize this and continue acting as though inconsequential changes for the sake of inclusiveness are some kind of affront to honored history.

The key point is: If you complain about it and loudly insist on using the old "politically incorrect" terms, us normal people are going to think you're a total loving weirdo who's really obsessed with slavery.

Slave 1 is actually Jango Fetts ship originally and its named because he got his first slave (boba) and planned to get many more. All young characters in star wars are canonically slaves.

agreed mostly. trimming shots so everything appears faster is good because it was just a little too cheesy, but the gags, setup and all need to stay in.

I wouldn't mind seeing Cobb Vanth and Mando coming in to help Fett out in the gang war. Mando could probably do with some distractions now that he's stuck playing Conan the Mandalorian wearing the jeweled helm of Mandalore atop a troubled brow.
