The tools of a hero mean nothing without a solid core.

It's more of an Agatha Christie answer than Encyclopedia Brown, but I'm going to pre-emptively guess that one of the suspects makes a comment like "that vest could belong to anyone" without being told what was left behind.

Your life and your quest end here.

Previously in Judge Parker...

Sam and Alan started a legal practice to sue the mayor for evicting people during the covid eviction-freeze in order to sell the properties to a company that had donated to his campaign. And Neddy found a place to live.

Judge Parker (August 2021)

While out jogging, Honey and Sophie are almost run down by a fire truck.

Spencer Farms Bed & Breakfast is ablaze. But everyone got out safely - including the horses.

And the mayor is loving it.

But there is some good news for Neddy.

I've got some pretty heavy philosophical objections against the idea of Snufkin starring in a video game. Very clever and pretty gimmick on the title image on the site, though.

So, uh. This jumped out at me.

It's pretty typical to use thought bubbles for animals to show that they're not speaking English, and this seems to be the case in Overboard where some animals are bipedal and wear clothes and others aren't but are still totally sapient. But look at how far the ship is from the shore! You couldn't have a spoken conversation at this distance, and usually the mice, at least, have regular speech bubbles.

I can only interpret this as a telepathic conversation. This is nuts. And possibly more thought than the author put into it.

Again a very likpatous story
Once you start thinking about the thought bubbles in Overboard there's no going back. But yes it's telepathy, it has to be, there's no other explanation. There's other strips where the mice are talking to Louie in thought bubbles, and the mice use regular speech bubbles most of the time. The only time they seem to use thought bubbles is when they're talking to Louie around the pirates, which seems to be a conspiracy to keep the pirates from knowing that Louie can think human thoughts.

Also of note, the anthropomorphic months seem to also be able to hear Louie just fine.

Ah, sled rides. Introducing kids to such scientific concepts as "no friction" "conservation of momentum" and "inelastic collision." I miss those days, sometimes. Specifically, the days when I could run up a hill all morning without tiring. And carom off 6 people, wipe out, get knocked down by another sledder, and get back up the hill again without needing ibuprofen. And $30 from shoveling walks was big money.

Oh yeah, and snow days being a good thing. "Childhood innocence" is a load of rot, but my life was measurably happier before the intersection of snow and driving.

We haven't had that spirit here since 1969.

The main Comics Kingdom site is still having major issues, but https://v7.comicskingdom.net/ is up and running. The only difference seems to be that for strips that are available in both square and horizontal-strip aspect ratios, this version of the site will provide the horizontal ones, which explains why Bizarro is longer and skinnier than normal today.
