The first shot didn't do anything to me but the second and the booster hit me pretty hard with chills/body aches the day of and the next day I was tired. I was fine after that though.

I have had no side effects on any of the three and kind of wish I had. It'd be nice to have had some physiological evidence something happened beyond a sore arm.

I'm getting my fourth shot this Friday, I haven't had any reaction to Moderna so far.

Pfizer/Pfizer with a Moderns booster here. First shot made me sick for a couple of days. Second shot laid me out so hard that I was (jokingly) asking myself "how bad could a severe case of Covid really be? That might be preferable." Booster was a mild headache and very slight chills that lasted for a few hours. I don't think that there's any real way to predict your reaction.

Comfy Fleece Sweater posted:It does look like everyone in the world is just throwing their hands up people don't know to take care of themselves, they make up random asinine rules like "so long as you're wearing something or other on your face you're protected, doesn't matter if it actually covers your mouth and nose" or "kids can't catch or spread covid" or "it's nbd to go out partying with dozens of people maskless so long as you stick something or other on your face for the cab ride home". Most of these are direct extrapolations from the top-down directives of the federal and state governments, who have been totally unwilling from the start to even suggest more than meaningless performative gestures or stuff that will actively spread infection. No law works if 30% of people choose to ignore it, and 30% of people are going to choose to ignore any law that is never enforced This isn't the first time anyone's had to deal with an epidemic, but I'm unaware of any time since germ theory got popular that so many governments went gently caress it and left everyone to their own devices, and anyone reacted with this level of astonishment that that didn't work A Wizard of Goatse fucked around with this message at 22:23 on Jan 17, 2022 |

thathonkey posted:took a PCR on 1/5 and i just got the results back on 1/15 Here in Melbourne Australia they chucked out 90,000 PCR tests because the labs had a massive backlog and they left them too long and they were no longer viable. Oops! https://www.9news.com.au/national/a...17-ea5d37275df9 The test positivity rate was around 30% at the time so there could have been around 27,000 positive results which got missed. Some of those people would have taken rapid tests and then reported their positive results to the government but those are only recorded as probable positive cases and not added to the official tally on the daily cases graph.

poo poo has been going sideways at work. I showed up one day and the employee lot was weirdly empty. About half of the employees are unvaccinated and they alllll got covid from the holidays. Haven't seen them back yet. And then half of my own department also tested positive in a 7 day span. All fully vaccinated, some boosted. But some a little careless with their masking. I lost my poo poo and made them test me on Friday. Negative on antigen and PCR. I didn't think I would be positive but I couldn't shake the fear. Most of the positive people in my department are back now after their 5 day quarantine. They cough and hack and sound like poo poo, and have been banished to isolated rooms to do their tasks. I have refused to take my KN95 off indoors at work since 2022 started. Oh and like, the first day back at work one of my patients was very obviously sick as poo poo, they needed testing for covid, flu, and strep. I handled the covid and flu testing, someone else came in to do the throat swab for strep. The patient proceeded to have a horrible unmasked coughing fit following the first throat swab, and I gazed on in horror at the swab-taker, who wore only a surgical mask and no face shield. It was not fun to tell them that patient tested positive for covid, and ir was also un-fun to have to report that incident. Over the next few days I saw management berate them multiple times for wearing only one surgical or cloth mask, instead of our new office policy of KN95 or 2 surgical masks. They did figure it out eventually and managed not to get sick from that exposure though.

I don't feel like there is nearly enough video of the COVID wards. Got my moderna booster on Friday and other than a sore arm and little bit of fatigue, very side-effect free. I wish there was an easy antibody test, I've now had my 3rd close call of someone I spent time with texting me days later that they're symptomatic and testing positive. Can't help but wonder if my luck is that good or if I'm an asymptomatic carrier.

Doctors just need to order the right tests. Entries on this list that read: quote:Target: Nucleocapsid will not give false positives for any of the vaccines currently available under EUA in the United States (nor for AstraZeneca’s vaccine, nor Sputnik V). They will give false positives for inactivated virus vaccines, which are used in some foreign countries.
