Martial Arts Isekai time!

Necromancer from...pretty much every manhwa with a system ever reincarnates as a martial artist in a murim world. Does silly poo poo with his necromancy powers while also learning martial arts skills. Surprisingly a lot better than I expected, the premise has worked really well so far and it's been drat fun to read: https://flamescans.org/series/reincarnation-of-the-murim-clans-former-ranker/

Spirit of a master martial artist gets sent to the RL world where dungeons are commonplace and there's a hunter organization look you know the drill. Gets tied to some jobber and the jobber becomes his disciple. Honestly I'm here for the Master and disciple dynamic more than anything, the fights are somewhat cool tho: https://www.asurascans.com/comics/heavenly-demon-instructor/

Dude gets isekai'd into Murim then isekais himself back to Earth and re-unites with his sister. poo poo went to hell on earth in the mean time with monsters arriving from portals making a world where dungeons are commonplace and there's a hunter organization-
right. Read this one because it has side characters who are cool and useful (at least for now) and the lead and his sister have a fun dynamic: https://www.asurascans.com/comics/maxed-out-leveling/
This one has the absolute worst most generic loving name tho.

Crazy martial arts dude eats a magic jewel and gets sent to the past, begins his ancient chinese martial arts grindset. He is a cocky, arrogant, sarcastic dick and seeing him reply to bad guys' taunts in kind was a breath of fresh air for the genre. Good art, though MC can be a bit too much of a oval office to people at times: https://www.asurascans.com/comics/9-the-return-of-the-crazy-demon/

Mostly because Zaha is not a complete poo poo, and does not kill people without really having a good reason for doing so, Crazy Demon is also on I think Webtoon for legitimate reading purposes, or Tapas.

Villainess story (I mean, I guess she's a villainess??) where she gets sent back in time for the 7th time. This was after her previous lives of being a knight, merchant, doctor and so on. Honestly I'm just here for the FL's energy and because she's actually a smart person who does poo poo.

Why do shoujo manga make their leads so loving useless and dependent on their quasi-abusive, impersonable male leads? I cannot imagine that must be fun to read for lady readers. Eh, anyway.

Mazumeshi Elf to Yuboku gurashi is your standard "no one in this world can cook, until a chef from Japan appears!" isekai. They somewhat justify it in that the elf tribe our MC gets scooped up into has the death penalty for wasting food, so no one's inclined to experiment.

It's not very exciting, so I was plunking along reading a chapter or two between other things. Then, starting with Chapter 32, the author leaned HARD into the isekai weirdness.

Starting with this cheese-eating spider that is actually a youkai half-girl half-spider life-energy vampire from Japan

And escalating in the Chapter 38 flashback:

I really liked this one; despite the whole "everyone backstabbed me" start, the continues to want to go out and make the world a better place. It's quite refreshing since so many other series take that premise and have the MC refuse to trust again and just murder their way to ultimate power.

I really like this one so far. It reminds me of Blue Hole which I also liked. yeah I read further into this and it's just loving dire, shouldn't have even bothered linking it, it's that devoid of character or entertainment value in any form

There's basically no characters whatsoever that I can remember, every villain introduced dies within a chapter or two, not a single jsdf soldier dies or is shown to be more than momentarily inconvenienced even when ambushed, and there's not a single instance of the ramifications of the entire country of Japan going to a new world on the actual people of japan. There's maybe 3 named Japanese dudes in the 18 or so chapters I read, the rest are essentially faceless mooks

I stopped around the time it introduced a totally-not-fantasy-world-japan country and the remarks of the Japanese ambassadors were almost literally "wow, gaze upon this proud, noble warrior race, they harken back to our own japan's perfect unblemished ancestors, look at their glorious culture, here is a 1000-times folded katana as a gift(which is also remarked on as the perfect weapon lol)"

I might concede it's better than gate, but that is by no means high praise or means it is worth recommending to others

It's got some uncomfortable bits, since it's basically about a modern Japanese destroyer going back and ending up fighting the US Navy in WW2 and trashing them quite badly. That said, there's a bit more going on there - it's not nearly as nationalistic as it sounds, and the allied navy are honestly decent people reacting reasonably to the situation - attacking an unknown Japanese ship that refuses to surrender, just tries to run away, which is kind of what you do in war. Meanwhile the IJN is shown to be quite nasty and many of their officers want nothing more than to trick this strange supership that showed up and started trying to spread messages like "colonialism is bad" and "you guys should really just work out a peace treaty with the allies, trust us" and the enemy navy into wiping each other out so they can get on with enslaving the rest of Asia.

I heard that eventually the IJN and the Zipang start fighting each other but the early bit is basically it playing isekai hero with the allied pacific fleet in place of goblins so that turned a lot of western readers off.

Mediocre isekai time. These are...uhhhh...readable?

Kid gets isekai'd and gets a wildcard blessing that gives him a farming dimension. Wildcard blessings are frowned upon by the local religion so he gets left for dead on an abandoned island. Eventually starts building a harem of some ex-slaves on the abandoned island and decides to create his own nation. I'd like this a lot more if it wasn't a loving harem because christ the story's pacing takes a dive as more girls are introduced.
also has slavery so take a shot

Girl gets access to dev_console.exe for reality and gets the ability to rewrite ID plates with her powers. ...That's really all I got, it's not particularly terrible but frankly it's kind of just...there.

Don't get excited from the title, I dropped this series twice because of how loving awful the early chapters were. After 20 chapters (literally) this series finally finds its stride and I lowkey recommend skipping to about chapter 20 and reading from there. Even then, this story has a little too many reversals even for a murim story

This one's not terrible. It's on my pull list and I don't hate seeing it show up. It's been a while since I binged through the early parts so I don't fully remember but I'm pretty sure that at the very least the main character has at least C+ ideas about slavery. Like "see me after class and we'll discuss about how slave owners are not people and therefore do not deserve the protections of the social contract."

Terrible Isekai List:

Behold, every single trope people hate about shoujo heroines distilled into one person. Pathetic, helpless, easily fooled and constantly kidnapped. The story is insufferably slow as a result and takes absolute eons to get anywhere. Her actual powers are lame as gently caress and manage to straddle the perfect overlap between being too boring to care about and too overpowered for the story she's in. A comment from one of the later chapters: "newest chapter released and she gets kidnapped again"
Also has slavery.
https://comiko.net/series/86612/pathfinder

I see this one recommended here from time to time but I personally think it's absolute trash. The writing goes nowhere and it spins its wheels far too much. The biggest issue is the harem elements; none of the girls have chemistry with the MC, he doesn't seem to particularly enjoy sleeping with any of them and on the whole it bogs down the writing really hard. I guess it's better than them steal glances from each other for 100 chapters, but ugh.

Oh, I remember this one. It was ok at first, but like you said it gets really bogged down with the harem aspects. I got fed up around the time the author finally introduced some more males into the settlement, only to wink at the audience and go "oh, but none of them can have sex with the all the single women, so I guess the MC still has his work to do!".

Oh, I started this one on tappytoon. Got up to (checks) Ch. 23, which is past where she gets owned by the first person she meets and slavery gets introduced and... I'm not sure why I gave it a pass just for having lip service about not liking the idea of slavery and the protagonist freeing one (1) slave who she was specifically sympathetic towards because she was reminded of herself. I guess all the potential catalysts for growth were wasted, then. Oh well, means I won't have to divert any money away from Returner's Magic.

Yup. It's the ink being doing that plus that same being is taking advantage of the fact he has no clue what magic or rituals are so he is very thick. He is holding and looking at a book about self improvement. The book to everyone is how to learn Void magic. I don't think I got that until he gave The Little Prince and was wondering why the customer and his daughter were just flipping out about it.

The gifts he gets I think he looks at as "oh these very kintzy things people around here make. Kind of weird, but I'll put it up to show I like the area".

Things are actually very dangerous and he just thinks he is actually super good at interviewing/talking/convincing.

Yeah, I liked the story, but my biggest complaint was that it kind of tests my suspension of disbelief that he doesn't seem to know anything about mutants, elves, magic, etc despite somehow having done in-depth research on one of the major megacorps. It's one thing that he doesn't know about the books (thanks to Inky) or is so dense that he doesn't realize how dangerous his customers are, but the lack of setting knowledge by someone who technically has access to every book ever written was a bit much.
