It's amazing what they can do with computers these days.

I’d eat it if someone handed me a slice because I have garbage taste. I’d never pay for it though.

Chicago finally got its first good snow of the winter. These come later every year.

I’m interested to see how inaccurate it really is after getting back into being invested for the whole race season. I stopped watching full seasons before DtS was a thing and have heard they portray poo poo that just flat out didn’t happen. Still a fun watch either way though!

I’m sure it’ll be highly dramatized like the Sainz-Lando stuff from the prior year, but there’s enough real drama between Lewis and Max to be lit as hell. Especially the Monza crash and the final race at Abu Dhabi.

Also Baku :allears:

Yeah they’re definitely gonna go wild with the Lewis-Max battle and it will be glorious. I just hope the Monza episode does our boys in orange justice.

Anyway, my favorite time of year has arrived. When fantasy football is over and Aaron Fraudgers has embarrassed himself out of the playoffs and football’s stranglehold on my weekends weakens and I can tear myself from its grasp and be slightly more productive on Sundays

Like a pretty close friend who I grew up with, whose parents were divorced, his mom dated a divorced man, who like a year into their relationship, murdered his own daughters from his previous marriage (who were children) then killed himself (can't remember if he also killed his ex-wife, I don't think so, because he did it when he had custody of his 2 daughters).

And then like, I was home from college that weekend and found out as I was going to meet him at his mom's house because he was also home from college. I'm pretty sure we've never had a conversation about it aside from briefly him saying "You heard what happened" me saying "yeah, that's loving crazy" then him nodding and saying "yeah, loving crazy."

I've done free filing via TaxAct and H&R Block for the last ... ten years, I think? Neither site has given me issues.

Edit: I did an in-person filing at H&R back in 2014 because I had spent time in both Maryland and Wisconsin in 2013, and I had been switched from an employee to a contractor, so my employer was no longer doing my withholdings.

Credit Karma will do them for free I think. That’s who I used that last couple of years. Might not be best if you have really complicated taxes.

The IRS requires that tax return providers offer a free return option for basic filing.

But, yeah, if you have complicated taxes, call an accountant; you're more likely to avoid an audit that way.

Credit Karma is now "Cash App Taxes". CK was bought by Intuit last year, as part of the merger they were required to spin off the tax prep part of the business. Apparently you need to download the Cash App to use the tax part.

It's loving insane the IRS doesn't just send us a check or a bill at the end of January, and we have until April 15 to file our own taxes if we disagree with the amount they think we owe/are owed.

Ah that sucks. I’ll probably have to figure out a new tax prep site then. I could go back to doing them by hand, but the websites let me get taxes done in like an hour.

My govt has its own public service that acts as your tax service. You just go in and enter your deductions and check all the figures your employer has to put in and then you click done.

Takes 10 mins.

They lobby the government specifically so their businesses that specialize in tax prep services can stay in business. If you prefer to call it corporate socialism or a kleptocracy I guess you can get hyperpecific about it.

Kleptocracy is probably the right word for it.

I should mention I loving hate capitalism and am some form of Marxist, I just haven't done enough research on different versions of Marxism to figure out which one I hate the least, because they all have something I think is insane.
