coelomate posted:I've hated crypto since I learned about it in 2011, but am curious about the inner workings of smart contracts. there are a number of technical breakdowns of the eth contract language if you're interested. they are hilarious if only because of how incredibly bad it is at everything

also that waka flocka thing is weird, found the account that he showed (https://opensea.io/ObituarySpy?tab=activity) but from what I can tell there were no outgoing NFTs or Eth near the date he posted the video

Weatherman posted:hahahaha i minted you`re post on the poastchain. no takebacksies I was halfway right, halfway wrong - there's no explicit limit to what contracts can do, but the "sender" variable is set to the wallet address if it's the initial call, but is set to the calling contract address if it's called from another contract so any contract that tries to use the "transfer NFT" call of another contract will fail since the sender isn't an address authorized to do the transfer (as long as the contract is properly written, of course)

Mercury_Storm posted:acquiescing to the term 'web3' is probably why this has been such a successful grift I want to punch any fucks that use this term unironically when talking about blockchain. it used well defined to refer to something real and interesting (semantic web) before these cocksmokers hijacked it to refer to some useless pixel casino.

gonna have to call the next iteration of the internet "Web Pro CS" or something at this rate

Web 2.0 has nothing to do with centralization and everything to do with user generated content, so arguably blockchain still fits neatly into that umbrella. but who cares, web3 is just another example of how all of these people, even the ones who produce these technologies, are completely out of touch with real technology and just make any poo poo up if it helps them attract more idiots into their scam.
|
# ? Jan 23, 2022 20:33 |

semantic web was library science nerdiness that failed because most people don't use the web as a library, while web3 will fail because people don't want to use the web as a stamp collection
