i'm watching through that dan olsen video that was linked a little way back, and the vagueness of these nft launches are a one-to-one re-creation of the classic south sea bubble offering of "an undertaking of great advantage, but nobody to know what it is" i know a lot of the material in "extraordinary popular delusions and the madness of crowds" is apocryphal, but boy it captures the spirit of the current bubble

I really want dumb NFT'S (with cool artwork) as POGS. Like, you get a cool coin (plastic, special additions made of metal) and a digital art piece as treat. Do different series of them. Like, occult ones, sci fi, a hundred per series. Sell them for ten bucks a pop. I would totally buy some, because POGS were cool. Wait, did I just create a great new NFT that's also dumb as poo poo?

on the one hand you have goatse, on the other cryptocurrency one of them is extremely offensive, a practical joke at the expense of whomever you show it to, and pretty much one of the most shocking things on the internet. the only people who take a positive view of it are a bunch of dissolute nerds whom you absolutely should not hold in high regard. the other is goatse
