It may surprise you to learn that right wing talking points are stupid, as are the people who say them.

So I've now seen two political cartoons in addition to the Carlson/Kelly segments on the "woke M&Ms" thing and holy gently caress it just completely amazes me how their brains are this goddamn broken. It is literally unbelievable that changing some shoes on some cartoon candy characters has become a hill to die on in the culture war. Global warming can't get rid of humanity fast enough. Hopefully crows, roaches, dolphins, or whatever life form becomes dominant in the future will do better.

Obama took office a few months later, which is when some of the charges were dropped against the Philadelphia black panther wannabes. The reason was because there was no voters who came forward to claim they were actually dissuaded or prevented from voting because of them.

I fully believe they don't actually care. If your job is to digest and analyze news reports all day, 5 days a week, for 10 or more years, it's very hard to get genuinely upset about everyday occurrences.

But they know their audiences will find the changes to be strange and offensive, so their job is to validate the beliefs of the audience.

Still, there's room to mock candy companies who are pretending to push progressivism via slight changes to their logos and cartoon characters, rather than doing anything meaningful- but that's not what Tucker and co are upset about.

Watching you sleep.

Butt first, let's
check the feeds.

The M&M or Dr Seuss type stuff definitely doesn’t actually matter to them. It’s just fodder to keep the anger and condescension going. “They’re changing the world. They’ll leave nothing untouched. They’re the unreasonable ones. They’re so ridiculous.” It matters to them only because it keeps the ball rolling and serves as the reminder to the audience that that’s the absurd nonsense. Now listen to our conspiracy theories and false nonsense and don’t question it.

I'm surprised they aren't complaining that having a lady M&M at all is wokeness infecting our candy mascots who should all just be ""normal""

But I guess the lady M&M has been around for long enough that she's become part of the way things are, and at its core conservatism is just a feeling that everything is just fine the way it is or the way we think we remember it being, so any change at all, whatsoever, is a DEFCON 1 level threat to our identities and culture even if it's just whether cartoon characters have high enough heels.

It would have been funny if Mars had made the M&M sexier instead because then they'd be complaining about liberals selling sex to children through commercials or what the gently caress ever

(CNN)On Thursday night, former President Donald Trump appeared on Sean Hannity's Fox show. And the two men had the following exchange:

Hannity: "I want America to do well. I really do, with all my heart. And I -- the only way that I see that he could change course is, as The Wall Street Journal pointed out today, rightly so -- there's no course correction with [President Joe Biden]. He seems locked into every one of these failed policies. So, you know, you know, you keep banging your head against the wall. Why would you expect a different result?"

Trump: "So, we would have had the wall completed in three weeks. It was largely completed. We did almost 500 miles of wall in the southern border. It was really working. It really had an impact. And we were working along with Mexico, and Guatemala, Honduras. We were -- El Salvador -- all of these countries we were working."

Someone tell him that the US/Mexico border is almost 2000 miles long and doesn’t include any of those countries he listed.

Four years to build 500 miles of wall that is largely ineffective and can be defeated with the tools found in a shady tree mechanics garage should be a point of ridicule.

This. Hannity is setting Trump up to slam Biden and all Donald hears is "wall" so he launches into a tirade about how the wall is almost totally built, big beautiful wall, best wall in all of history, many people are saying it's fantastic built by the best people...wall, wall, wall. Wall good.

I wanted to hear Sean's redirect; if he just let it slide, ignored it or pivoted the interview to actually make it about the wall but I'm not going to FOX website to find out and the article I read didn't get into it.

Yeah, the point isn't whether the wall is dumb or not (it is), it's that he heard the word "wall" in a completely different context and them immediately assumed they were talking about his Wall and started rambling about it.

BB I have started storing these up. One of the few rhetorical points I scored with Mom regarding the insidious hypocrisy of FOX News (FOX & Friends is her opiate) was asking her early on, just which pressing issue was she worried about while the other networks were making some attempt at journalism: Dr. Seuss? Big Bird, or wait the Asian Muppet or more feuds with Muppets, or is it CRT which no one can define or show where it is actually making people feel bad about being white, or?

I'll just add, "...I see it's the woke M&Ms this week."

She doesn't watch the prime time monsters. Thank goodness.

For whatever reason all of human literature is filled with the concept that we can never be as great as our ancestors. The great conquests of Alexander, the mighty empire of rome, the great pyramids of egypt and etc... The bible just goes to 11 on this with the ancients living hundreds of years and having secret knowledge which we can never relearn and if you start including mythology you start getting stuff like atlantis or whatever.

Well, yeah. And no one cares about it until RWM tells them to care about it. I can promise you that Mars could have re-dressed an M&M and no one on god's green earth would give a poo poo or even notice.

I guess you could make a similar argument about LWM or MSM but I don't think it's the same. There's a whole lot of word association that goes on with people who consume FOX and talk radio (flip flopper, Pocahontas, cut and run, socialist, etc.). They seem to be susceptible to these things in the way that most of my left leaning friends aren't and it works similar to how advertising does. Think "Merry Christmas" and how awkward it feels now to say it or hear it even if you don't loving care.

Probably not explaining myself too well here but it has to do with memes like "Al Gore invented the internet lol" and weird poo poo that permeates in the public discourse. Trump did a lot of it with his stupid nicknames even though some stuck and some didn't but it's kind of the same thing.
