Spotify makes waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more money on subscribers who want Joe Rogan than they ever would with Neil Young. Countless young guys I know are obsessed with Rogan, sadly.

They don’t get any subscribers specifically for Neil young.

It looks like Sirius rolled out a Neil channel today though.

The idea of someone being so into Neil Young that they subscribe to Spotify for him, but don’t know that he already has his own website with a paid streaming option, is very funny.

Nilufer Yanya is rad - saw her open for Sharon Van Etten in the before times, and she honestly stole the show. Very impressive live voice.

Content - Courtney Barnett is still amazing:

Get enough people to cancel their Spotify and maybe it will mean something. Or convince enough other musicians to pull out. Otherwise it’s just the crankiest old man doing the same cranky old man thing he’s done for years about everything.

If it was grade A pop stars doing it and a bunch of them? Be more interesting.

Jesus, she dropped a whole rear end album last year that I missed.

Time, man. I'll tell you what...

EDIT: Looks like just a compilation of her recent EPs, but nice to have them in one place.

That would obviously be better, but this is still getting the message (Spotify pays right-wing lunatics to spread their propaganda on Spotify) into the public. The more that happens, the better.

Do you find something comical about my appearance when I'm driving my automobile?
I remember when Joe Rogan was on the best TV show ever. That's the Joe Rogan I want to remember, not this fringe idiot. And it's a shame that Spotify isn't standing up to him, and I hope more people follow Young's lead.

Because has Joe Rogan ever been involved in something as awesome as playing with Devo?

Why would Spotify stand up to him? They shelled out to be his home platform. His views and the views of many of his guests were well known.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Neil and I’m happy he did it, I just think he’s the wrong messenger. I love that podcasters are following his lead, but I’m waiting for Taylor swift to do it.

The fact that the early 2010s were dominated by 80s nostaliga, and now the 2020s have been dominated by 90s nostalgia, can we expect a revival of nu metal in the next 6-7 years?

That's been going on, mostly via the hardcore scene. Limp Bizkit put out an album last year. Korn had a critical reevaluation.

I should listen. I grew up in metro Detroit, so I listened to A LOT of Our Lady Peace because the only modern rock station in the region was based out of Sarnia, Canada. At one point I had a signed CD by them, I think my brother stole it, which is funny because he was also the one who got it for me.

I checked and the only metal album of the 2010s on the list is... none.

For the 21st century as a whole:
Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone
Lightning Bolt - Wonderful Rainbow
Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
Limp Bizkit - Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water

yes. All metal albums you MUST hear from the 21st century are those four.

Wonderful Rainbow sticks out like a sore loving thumb doesn't it?
