I'll give it a shot, sense Gillen is writing, but the similarities to IvX are not going to do them any favors.

I downloaded comixology and it isn’t letting me read Black Cat and MJ. It just lets me add it to wish list. Is it not out yet online or something? Edit: nevermind I just downloaded a different app and bought it. All good. Gatts fucked around with this message at 20:15 on Jan 28, 2022 |

Skwirl posted:Yeah, it was retconned to a clone or body double or something. Part of it was probably because Hate Monger appeared in Fantastic Four before they brought back Captain America, so the golden age Timely comics books weren't thought of as being part of the Marvel comics canon yet, so Hitler hadn't been burned alive by John Hammond. In the last bit of Super-Villain Team-Up by Peter Gillis (where he also decides to establish that all of the AIM/SHIELD agents responsible for the creation of the Cosmic Cube are members of Parliament Funkadelic) they establish that Arnim Zola convinced Hitler to set up a Hitler Clone Farm to allow him to repeatedly be brought back as Hate Monger, but Hitler wants his brain permanently inserted into a Cosmic Cube, which ends up happening except it was a decoy cube that instead serves as a prison, also the clone farm was destroyed. Hitler is then a paperweight in the Red Skull's office for about fifteen years until Mark Waid picks this plot thread up in his Captain America run, which ends with the Hitler Cube getting destroyed. But the next writer (Dan Jurgens) decided that not *all* of the clones were destroyed, so Clone Hitler with Original Hitler Brain once again becomes Hate-Monger in his Cap run. By the end of the Jurgens run, Hitler turns into like a Hate Ghost Force, who is in return destroyed by the Captain America and Friends equivalent of the Care Bear Stare. Even later it was revealed that Hitler's Ghost Force wasn't destroyed, just shot off into space. It hitched a ride on one of the Evil Hammers from Fear Itself, then jumped off and took over someone's body to be a new Hate Monger in Black Panther: The Man Without Fear. Hitler's Ghost Force jumps out of the host body just before he is defeated and arrested. In the recent United States of Captain America mini-series, it's revealed that the Hitler Ghost Force had been captured and contained by NORAD(?) and Sin and company are trying to free it to have it take over a right wing newscaster. I *think* they once again expel it, but i forget if there was a "wink wink, Not Tucker Carlson is still possessed by Hitler's Ghost Force" ending. So long story short, Hate Monger was always *a* Hitler, and is still a Hitler. quote:As a side thought, obviously Wolverine wasn't a character that existed when it still made sense for Reed Richards to have fought in WW2, but a team up story about them during WW2 might be fun. Peter Parker's parents also met Wolverine in their no-longer-WWII-era spy careers, he really gets around.

I thought the Eternals were trying to be on good terms with the Deviants nowadays. Like the whole point of the Eternals recently has been a big "oopsies I guess our prime directives were kinda bad and we probably shouldn't do them"

Even if Gillen wasn't involved with that, there would be at least one other swerve at work here. I like to imagine that someone told Thanos, current head of Eternal society, about the Five. His monocle popped off, he spat out his tea, and the next thing you know, Eternals are invading Krakoa.

The last issue of Eternals also hinted at some secret about the true purpose for which Celestials created Deviants, which I guess is part of the lead-in here

I would like an event where the X-Men just get to have a good time as a group of friends. Like an extended swimsuit special, but with a little less cheesecake and a little more beach volleyball.

I have said for years that I would like Marvel to do a big summer crossover event that's entirely based around Ben Grimm's floating poker game, and I stand by that. No fights break out and nobody's even hurt, unless feelings count. Maybe somebody goes a little too far in and goes broke, then somebody else takes Tony or Emma Frost for a ride and ends up with a billion dollars to burn.

Barry Convex posted:Most of the main Eternals in Gillen's run are, but Druig and Thanos aren't. Yeah. I imagine this is more Druig and Thanos leading their faction of the Eternals against the X-Men, while the Avengers are dealing with the Eternals led by Thena who hate them being in the Celestial. So we'll have a team up with the X-Men, Avengers, and the few good Eternals (Sersi, Ikaris, etc.) against all those other groups.

Yeah but I think the only place the Brood gets used as actual horror poo poo anymore is elseworlds. I think the rebooted Marvels Zombies used them as a catalyst but at that point are they even brood
