The Brady GOAT argument is largely based in recency bias. I can say without doubt that if Brady played in the 80s there wouldn't be an argument. It should be obvious to anyone who was paying attention that Manning was the better QB. It's amazing that Brady had the longevity and the good fortune to win 7 rings. He's definitely the most successful during the modern era. The QB is very important but rings are a team stat. Not a QB stat.

But in the previous era, it's obviously Montana. Before that probably Bart Starr.

If you just want to get into stats then Steve Young has a good argument based on being #1 before the rule changes. And then it is currently Rodgers.

But the true GOAT is Jerry Rice. If you are too young to have watched him it's hard to really understand but he was basically Michael Jordan like in how he was obviously head and shoulders above the rest of the league. I don't think there has ever been another player that really compares in the NFL. Maybe Gale Sayers.

Yeah I don’t know what his status at ESPN is after that abomination that was the Dalvin Cook report but this looks awful for him.

If no one on the team knew about it, it wasn't his agent or his father, then who would possibly know if Brady was retiring or not that Schefter+Darlington would trust enough to put it out there? Gronk? Gisele? It does seem like something that leaked prematurely and Brady is walking it back so he can announce it himself.

That night we performed the rite and opened the gate.
Halfway through, I went to fix us both a coke float.
By the time I got back, he'd gone insane.
Plus, he'd left the gate open and there was evil everywhere.

It is all a ruse for the entire world to count him out so he can power up on all the counting out to win another SB with a Spirit Bomb.

Brady gonna spite everyone’s happiness by actually not retiring. This is all part of his grand plan.

I did kind of want to see when he dropped off and went all noodle arm like Peyton and Ben though. Going out still hitting records does leave that lasting impression of invincibility, like, how long could he have still gone about making the league his bitch?

gently caress you tom Brady.

Look when your whole brand is being the first person to report stuff and mindlessly reporting anything an agent or team or random person with access to medical files tell you mistakes happen.

It honestly must be an exhausting life, but luckily there aren't any consequences!

Right, something of this magnitude I just assumed the source was literally Tom Brady himself. Feel like there's no way Adam "Mr. Editor" Schefter breaks this story without an explicit directive.

It’s entirely possible that Brady legitimately has not made a decision and through a game of telephone an incorrect report got to Schefter. Which is hugely damning on Schefter because who on Earth could have had the authority to tell him this news where he’d pass it on as definitive?

How many people have done retirement tours in the NFL out of curiosity?

It seems a lot easier to do in other sports where you don't get hit a lot.
