Does anyone remember the video of an Uncle Fester looking motherfucker driving around Cleveland shooting out the window? The original Reddit post is long gone but I've wanted to show this video to some friends that still live in CLE. Spent a ton of time scouring the internet and am coming up short. This is the original posting: https://www.reddit.com/r/tooktoomuch/comments/gvcgia/just_driving_around_cleveland_shooting_a_gun_out/ Crazy loving video, totally appropriate for this thread.

Ok, I was honked at repeatedly by the car behind me for not making a right on red. I couldn't see the traffic coming from the left, so I decided to wait for the green light. The way I look at it, right on red is an option and should not be considered as a mandatory turn that justifies a guy getting pissed and honking at me.

I don’t care if people don’t turn on red, but I do care if they don’t even want to go that way yet still block the lane. I’m not talking about driving straight down the road and not changing lanes for a red light, or they need to be in that lane to be in position for an immediate following turn. I mean that we’re on an a side street, waiting for the light on the arterial, and I can’t turn because there’s some clown that wants to wait in the multioption lane and not the perfectly good through lane right next to it.

Like 80% of the time when I see that happen it's a car with out-of-state plates, so they probably genuinely didn't know. The other 20% of the time I have no excuse for.

Every single week at a light controlled intersection I will inch forward to make a right on red and the vehicle to my left will see and also pull forward so I can't see the traffic coming from the left. I live in the northeast and I used to only experience it regularly when I lived in southern California. Doesn't help that I drive an older Civic and every other car on the road has a larger and taller front end than mine. I would support making every lane but the right lane have a pushed back stop line. I see witness marks on the road everywhere showing that people making left turns are nearly always driving through the double yellow of the street they're turning on to. waffle iron fucked around with this message at 18:32 on Mar 6, 2022 |

most of the time when that happens to me, they're making room for me to squeeze past them on the right, which is appreciated

PeterCat posted:Ok, I was honked at repeatedly by the car behind me for not making a right on red. I'll honk at someone for not making a right on red when it's obviously clear. There's an intersection I go through every day on my way home where people like to stop for right turns even when it's green, and will frequently sit at when it's red despite the lack of a no turn on red sign. It's a long light and there's very little cross traffic. As a driver of an actual car I too suffer from almost every other road user blocking my view in their enormous compensation-mobile when I'm trying to check for traffic for a right turn. It loving sucks, I hope gas goes up to $6 a gallon and everyone is scrambling to get cars again.

I suffer from the twin disadvantages of driving cars that are both short in height and have short hoods so I have to really pull way the gently caress out to see around the ubiquitous trucks and SUVs in my area. Like, my Fit is completely dwarfed by 80% of cars on the road and no matter how good its visibility is I can’t make up for a Ram 3500 pulling six feet beyond the stop line. I am at eye level with the hoods of most trucks and even most SUVs.

I have an 86 944 and holy crap does it get hard to see what’s happening around me sometimes. I’m basically sitting on the ground and every car and especially trucks are massive vision blockers.

Make low cars great again. Or something. On a bike I can still see over the majority of UK traffic but gently caress me it starts getting scary when the SUVs come out to play, they can't see out of them for a loving start, have no idea how big their vehicles are and are invariably the worst drivers skill wise too. It's a deadly combination.

Plus a 944 has a pretty long hood on it so trying to peak into a hard to see around intersection is extra fun for you. I've got a Mini so I totally get the I can't see poo poo around taller vehicles problem. I recently bought a van for a second vehicle and I haven't had a tall vehicle in so long it was like putting glasses on I could see so much better.
