How did those Monster Rancher ports turn out? I think about buying them on occasion.

They're good. The one catch is that they're based on the Japanese version instead of the NA one, so it's missing some of the changes that were made for the NA release back on playstation. The only ones you'll really notice playing casually is that the NA version added 100 weeks to every monster's lifespan and let you skip training animations - neither of those are present in the remake. The remake has some other bugfixes and QoL changes so it's still the better version overall.

I played through the LA remake and I liked it, but I really missed the camera guy Like, the whole gimmick of the remake is that everything looks like tilt-shift photography, they should have taken some actual polaroid photos of real miniatures and scattered them across the map

I finally beat Zelda II for the first time, after all these years. I don't think I could have done it if it wasn't for rewind/save states, the Great Palace is brutal and I died to Thunderbird probably twenty times. I also did actually try to fight Dark Link legit, but after ten deaths and only being able to damage him like three times in all my attempts, I eventually just resorted to the corner crouch cheese. Zelda II is good, but it is also way harder than it needed to be, so I guess I understand why people don't like it. Just a combination of "it's too hard" and "it's not like the first game."

Essentially let the other player die while you keep going until you die. The best of all worlds. Man, I spent that game dying in so many places. It's amazing the detail they put in for that final day. I hung out with Romani, I took over the Beach House and waited it out. I'd spend it with Monkeys or Gorons. Just anywhere really before whisking myself away to the beginning. I need to hack my 3DS and restore the OG version. There's a lot I like about the 3DS version, the swimming is not even a problem to be honest, but the boss fights were changed for the worse. You set up a local multiplayer game. You can even play against an AI, no need for another human. You can choose your mode, from marathon to others. Choose a Line Limit or Not, and best take off the Hurry up option so you can play tetris all you want. It's slightly inelegant as there will be another screen but frankly, doesn't matter.

I spent a lot of yesterday's Yacht Club thing constantly thinking "Oh god please don't be NFTs". Shovel Knight - and its DLC - was absolutely wonderful, so I am 100% in with Cute Brave Mouse's Gothic Adventure. In other news: Can anyone who has upgraded from a standard Switch to an OLED help me make a bad decision? I bought a launch Switch 5ish years ago and I love it. Generally play it handheld. I've finally paid off my student loan, and I'm in the "I've been a good boy and I deserve a little treat" stage of living through a global pandemic. Is the difference between base and OLED really that good? Is this an insane and wasteful thing to do? Apologies if this somehow re-ignites endless arguments - I was 400 pages behind and don't have the brains to catch up. Finally, Planescape Torment and Icewind Dale ate £9 on the e-shop for the next day or two, which feels way more palatable than the £32 they were asking for.

Can’t you sell a launch Switch for basically the price of an OLED because of the hack? Or is that over?

It is fully worth it if you still play a lot of handheld mode and won't bankrupt yourself, the screen will make you say 'loving hell' out loud when you see it next to the old one and the kickstand is a lot better this time. There are still launch Switches for £150+ on ebay, search for 'HAC-001' to check them out.

That's why you don't go online if you hack it. It's now a single player piracy and emulation machine.

FFXIV Porn posted:i have a launch day switch but i've been too scared to hack it. what if it gets banned. you can basically dual boot a switch, with one firmware running off the internal memory and a second firmware running off the sd card that way you can keep the internal firmware unhacked for online use and use the secondary firmware for hacking and never let it go online, so nintendo is none the wiser
