Thanks to the sliding time scale, Doom was probable in college and building he face exploding machine at the time and both of those were Adult Swim's target audience.

I just realized I'm probably around the same age as Dr. Doom and I haven't taken over one country or launched a single rival into space. What am I doing with my life?

You're never going to be happy constantly comparing yourself to the success of others like that. You probably have no experience in menacing the populous at large, and that's OK. If it's something you think you really want to do, start small. Something simple and with a low population. Try taking over the local Arbys - nobody's really going to mind if you end up burning it to the ground. Also, maybe try just a cape before the whole suit of armor.
