In my experience, increasing amounts of "normies" are now accepting my use of the term fascists and even using it themselves when talking about the modern Canadian far-right. Our goal in language use, especially when communicating outwardly, should be to not use alienating weird online in-language, as this makes you appear like an out of touch weirdo and makes everyday people instantly more skeptical of any claims you make about your political enemy. In this stage of the rise of the far-right, it is essential to maintain moral superiority. Increasing amounts of people are seeing the truckers as annoying and disruptive in the least as their movement continues. In my opinion, if Ottawa citizens were to strike back out of frustration, due to lack of police enforcement, a majority of Canadians wouldn't be bothered as the Convoy had the chance to air their grievances, behaved poorly and have worn out their welcome. This would not have been the case last weekend. Public sentiment is shifting away from the Convoy as we speak. So for those who want to beat fascism, at this stage the strategy should be to beat its appeal. One side has lunatics frothing at the mouth. The other (the left) should be organizing community supports for people affected by Convoy action. Citizen patrols to help walk women, people of colour and lgbtq people in and out of downtown to their jobs etc. People helping those stuck at home in fear to access medicine etc. All this while being openly leftist, is a great way for people to see that when push comes to shove, one side offers outrage and the other support. If we want to beat out the fascists, we want our communities to see the left who brought people together and them as the weird outsiders who speak in weird dehumanizing codes to the point that some are difficult to understand. It's been interesting to see the people who are on the edge of their seat, almost hoping real violence will break out as it would give them the chance to cosplay their part of the revolution.
