i started browsing in 2003 but thought the $10 fee was a really elaborate joke, especially since they did the fake front page bit around the same time. i remember when they replaced gbs with a picture of a duck. it wasnt until i saw a Post Your AIM thread popped up in gbs when i finally reached out to a goon to find out the secret way to register and thats how i learned no you actually have to pay $10. i joined and in like a month got banned for image leeching.

I got the tude now posted:lmfao I went from bob and George -> penny arcade -> lurked here until ycs closed and started checking back a couple years ago i believe i went from Foxtrot's website to Joe the Circle to Bob and George to some Bob and George fan comic forum spinoff project to acmlm's rom hacking forum, where i learned about SA, read the front page throughout high school, and then lurked and finally joined in 2006, when i was In Collage. then got banned and lived on twitter until i reregistered apparently to post in the IZ fighting game thread.

I had seen SA on and off over the years but I started lurking a lot sometime around summer ‘05 (everybody was talking about Hurricane Katrina) I didn’t pull the trigger on an account for several more years, mostly because the Nintendo forum I used to post on died completely around 09ish and the only other place I posted a lot on was the WoW forums and I stopped caring about that place in late ‘10 after Cataclysm launched and they got rid of the off-topic forums. e: On a semi related note, sometime around late 2018 or so Blizzard decided to change their forums completely (allegedly to make it easier to load on phones) and they deleted every thread and post from before then, all the way back to WoW’s launch (and even older stuff on the Warcraft 3+Diablo 2+StarCraft forums) and that’s actually one of the reasons I quit WoW for good Lumpy the Cook fucked around with this message at 02:26 on Feb 4, 2022 |
