Well not quite. He only killed the child after Gigan betrayed them, and was doing so to ensure it would not get tortured anymore. Still not a great thing to do, as he admitted after.

The Gigantes were also seen in episode 1 getting massacred by Bosse, right? I'm guessing these were also mercenaries being used by Desha's dad and this is probably related to the atrocities he was committing but that's just speculation at this point.

It's an Ongoing Manga

Except that "Part 1" supposedly ended or is ending soon.

Which is probably around the point where the anime will stop.

So it's kind of inbetween?

Is it a coincidence that there is a Kingbo and a King Bo or are Kingbo and Kage from the same kingdom?

So, we start to see Miranjo's backstory with that quick shot of her and her mother being generous to others.

The latter exchanges between Bojji and Ouken were back to 1st cour level animation. So awesome. Also, no way those puncture holes in Ouken's armor aren't important. He's immortal. Doesn't mean he still isn't affected by pressure point strikes.

There's what? Seven episodes left in the season?

From how his brothers looked in the flashbacks, Ouken went crazy really quickly once he got wolverine powers.

He did ask at first but he got distracted by his role as Bojji's Speedwagon.

It's odd that Ouken seems to have fallen to madness very quickly after becoming immortal and was scared of losing who he was. Given that the king thought that immortality could be gained through his kids, I wonder if maybe he's also being possessed like Daida.

Since this is RoK, I expect Apeas to have a flawed understanding of Miranjo's motivations and we'll be shown something that humanizes her later. But for now it's a good move as it keeps us distanced from her emotionally as something unrelatable.

They've been doing a good job of balancing out distancing moments and empathizing moments with her in particular. She's supposed to be an enigma to the rest of the characters, and that sentiment is relayed to the audience through the order of the information that's shared on her.

I think Miranjo genuinely loves Bosse and believes that she's acting in his best interest, because the Bosse she fell in love with was Bosse as he was before Bojji's birth and the curse's effect and that's her vision of the ideal Bosse, who he is meant to be and was happiest as in her mind.

this is where i'm charitably hedging bets for the time being. her inclusion in this episode at least had some humor and fun to it, how she reflexively ended up helping Bojji and the parallels drawn between her and Apeas to Bojji/Kage etc.

but up to this point i've found most of the stuff surrounding her annoying and am not looking forward to the manipulative twist to her story. it's another instance where i start to wonder if the manga already resolved this by now and the anime is going back to first cour bad habits with how it restructures things for maximum climax. like i would've much rather dealt with all this when she first kicked up the underworld escape plan and only had one failed assassination attempt under her belt, rather than multiple failures and an incredibly traumatic successful one.

Sleep, rest, do your best.
I'm sure Miranjo will have a very tragic and sympathetic backstory, but there is no way there can be anything in her past to make her actions slide. She has been cruel to best boy Bojji and tried to kill Hilling who is the number one anime milf.

We already know she has a tragic backstory. Like she was blamed for something she did not do as a child, then mutilated by her accusers. It just does not really justify her.

I binged this goddamn show in the last couple of days. I love this show and Bojji and Kage are my guiding lights. Hiling is the best anime mom hands down.

And like one of the other posters here, I have been watching the second OP over and over again. An OP hasn’t moved me since maybe Eureka Seven’s Sakura. Seeing Miranjo running with the demon as children and the “mothers” part with everyone are standouts but the part that always gets me is the opening seconds with the shadow puppets. What an amazing show

Well, we know she got killed a while back… Quite possibly the mirror was just a last-ditch soul jar for her, I think the real question is whether this was a backup she had prepared or if this was just a last ditch, spur of the moment thing because I rather doubt she PLANNED on being run through by a giant ballista bolt.

And I would not be surprised at all if the series ends with her and Bosse choosing to pass on. Bosse's reincarnation has been consistently depicted as lovely and wrong, and the one dude who cheated death and is apparently fully immortal is currently an insane, sadistic serial killer who is immediate family treat like a rabid dog. That seems like a theme to me.

And speaking of making Miranjo somewhat sympathetic, she did just save Appeas right? The mouse that led Hiling's entourage to him had the glowing red eyes the behemoths had while she was manipulating them.

with this latest episode I wonder if the whole ranking of kings was set up by the god race either for their amusement or to bolster their forces. Most of the gods were portrayed with crowns on their heads and it could be whatever that item given to the king that ranks first may be full of god energy or something, which eventually drives them mad

Went back and rewatched some parts and I don't think so. The architecture between pre-Bosse kingdom and Gyakuza are completely different. A fun connection that I did find though: When Kage had to flee is homeland and he was saved by a young girl, her attendant mentioned that they "Serve King Bo." Seems Kage originally came from Kingbo/Forest king's country.

This show loves to reveal another side or aspect of a character/conflict, so I wonder if there is more to the story to the betrayal of the Houma kingdom than meets the eye. The villagers were pretty flatly portrayed as lovely people with a very one-dimensional justification for it, but this story was told through Bosse's eyes, so there might be more reason for them to side with the Gods
