They have stopped making models for certain units but they don't get rid of the rules for them. See Ariadna's MRRF for an example. I can't recall any units that were memory-holed and disappeared between N3 and N4 but I know some very early CA units (from N1, maybe?) were removed entirely.

It doesn't feel right to kill an unarmed man... but I'll get over it.
The only things that have been truly squatted are the exrah, who were replaced with Onyx in N3. RIP to the Cascuda, my beautiful combat jump explosion HMG boy.

Mostly a non-issue (a few models 2 editions ago plus a unit or two every now and then that tends to reappear in new neatly proxyable form like Invincibles to Zuyongs or Ahl Fassed to Al Fasid). 98% chance it's just removing product from store or preparing for a resculpt.

I do take a bit of an issue with it, in that those factions will (at least for a time, who knows they may decide to bring them back) no longer receive new profiles and thus will likely fall behind the curve compared to factions/sectorals still begin regularly updated.

I think the most egregious thing was dumping Tohaa, unless you want to play Spiral Corps (and the 2 Tohaa players I know don't) a lot of those minis won't really fit elsewhere. Tohaa was always kinda weird design-wise, and throwing in the towel instead of fixing them up was disappointing.

That all being said, while I'm not a fan of their cycling of sectorals, CB's very good proxy policy means that folks are never totally fubar and left with a bunch of worthless metal. It's not a huge deal in most cases, even if its not ideal.

To clarify, I meant non-issue in the sense that those models aren't made useless game-wise like the Squats were. As for catalog rotation, CB's lazy proxy policy and related issues, don't even get me started.

A few factions lost units. The Halqa (mechanized deployment Haqqislam dudes) got dumped between N3 and N4, as an example.

Played my first full game of Infinity!

I played Invincible Army against another guy's Yu Jing vanilla in a league game. We played the Armory and and it ended up being an absolute bloodbath. Here's a picture of the actual Armory room at the end of the game - all of those units are unconscious, and that's not even including 2 or 3 that straight up died in there. (Ignore the wall textures that didn't load)

All in all, it was a total blast, and I can't wait for my next league game. Nevermind that I lost super hard.

This is real tangental, but 200 point games always felt weird to me. 300's standard, and 150's where everything is pared down so hard it starts to feel like a different game. 200's in this zone of "well, hope you didn't want any HI."

Oh for sure, but it's what they wanted to do.

Some sectorials scale down to it real well.

I'm pretty happy with how they're looking, these two being the best so far as I figure out how I want to paint them. (I've got a bunch of Nox and Cutthroats painted too)

Had a learning game last night, 150 pts, supply box. My TAK got reduced to 2 line kazaks at the end of round 2. Ended up 10-0 Yu jing.

150 pts really seems like an odd size, my ratnik ended up being a third of my list. Hope I walked away learning the right lessons, buy I'm fired up to try 300 pts and way more camo.

I'd say darken the shadows significantly and highlight it way up.

Everyone on the IGL discord going nuts about 'ARO baiting' again. Apparently the ability to declare you will shoot at a future point in your movement is somehow open to interpretation in there. The baiting idea being that you can then declare Shoot while in ZoC of a reactive model, but in total cover, just saying that you will shoot from a point that is in LoF. They can only declare Dodge (or Reset or whatever). You then declare Move, move into LoF and the rolls happen.

I'm sort of rolling my eyes here, it's such a blatantly unintentional interaction. If someone actually tried this I'd just laugh them out of the room, but obviously on the internet it seems like the world is ending and no-one will ever take a shoot ARO within ZoC ever again.

Aren't there quite a few of these rules quirks though? I seem to recall stuff like "templates can't overlap camo markers" because it could be used as an alternative to the 'correct' discover action.

Templates can't overlap impersonation markers because they show as friendlies to your IFF system. Camo markers are fair game as long as there's any valid target in template area as well, so no going "hey maybe I'll randomly chainrifle that random heap of garbage" unless you do it with intuitive fire.

This makes a lot more sense and I wish they'd explained it like this instead of making the rules sound really weird.

I was hoping to use them in a campaign where there was a boarding party kind of thing vs a crew of firefly/campy scifi type crew, and maybe there's a Big Bad Evil Guy the group has to overcome, and maybe some sub villians to overcome kind of a thing.

edit: maybe some non-humanoids the humanoids could feasibly control or some random chaff to fight

The new MAF units look fun, I'm glad for pitchers and chain rifle options that aren't Daturazi. Speaking of which, the new box has me with mixed feelings. I don't really like the new Vanguard models because I think they would look too much like Daturazi on the table. Still no feminine Morat faces, the cowards, and I'm not painting Raktorak a 3rd time.
