Although the teased clip for SNW is about one such backstory being told, the important thing to remember is that current Trek's failings aren't necessarily about the content, it's about the delivery of the content. Owoshekun's tragic backstory, if delivered appropriately, would've been a phenomenal character building moment, greeted warmly by an audience who has felt Discovery was severely lacking in growth for anyone on screen. However, it was delivered during an urgent moment, used as a direct explanation for why a choice was made, and never returned to. It was done just to fill time. It's constantly done to fill time. Does this show even air on television anywhere? Time filling is pointless and yet it's happening anyway. This is just the new normal for modern live Trek. Discovery seems to work on JoJo rules where talking s a free action.

Yeah it's a pretty bog-standard gacha but it was a good way to kill an hour a day and enjoy some deep cuts a good tip is to opt in to those Google surveys, I always earned enough Play credit through those to get the monthly Dilithium or whatever bonus without spending actual money.

I somehow completely missed the fact that Disco S4 started airing in November. Guess I have a bit to catch up on. What’s the general thread feeling on this vs S3? Better? Worse? More of the same? Obviously I risk spoiling something for myself by hanging around before I watch it but eh.. I thought S3 was … okay, I guess, so ultimately I’m not going to cry if I get burned.

season 3 was at least interesting because they changed up the setting and brought back some classic TOS characters and races, also saint Michael Burnam is less insufferable even though she still saves the day everytime the ship gets in trouble. Season 4 feels like its treading water, the season long arc it's currently going through is pretty boring. There is a decent episode with Tilly with bunch of starfleet cadets thats fun. Expect to fold a lot of laundry because most scenes are way too melodramatic over nothing, all the character interactions are such a slog to even get through. I'm still watching for the few characters Iike but even the good ones have already left.

S3 had some OK moments (mostly at the beginning), but in S4 they are playing up a lot of drama in the main cast that isn't interesting at all, and they have been dragging out the big, galaxy spanning threat for ages to the point where I have stopped caring.
