I really do hate that increasingly large amounts of governments world wide seem to believe that they exist for the sole reason of ignoring what their own constituents ask of them and that the idea of "doing something" is seen as something inherently daft.

Neoliberal decline bad you say?

Neoliberal decline may have ruined politics by allowing every social matter to be poisoned by the false easy rhetoric of personal responsibility, no matter how inaccurate, but we only have ourselves to blame.

Feels like the white guy is the ultimate punchline of that bit though, although it is a bit "heh they talk silly". I'm not a fan of his stuff but I didn't think he built a lot of racial stuff into his sets. But if he's gonna defend Carr then he can get in the bin too idc

I missed Jimmy Carr's execution, will it be on the BBC iPlayer to catch up? Could do with a giggle.

So while it's an overall defence of "comedy that offends", he didn't specifically do go to bat for his good mate/early model Terminator, Jimmy Carr.

What did Carr do? His stuff has always been on the line for crass and way too many rape/paedo jokes for someone who looks like him so I'm not surprised he went beyond.

The soc dems aren't good, guys. They'll get seduced into one of the bigger parties once they've secured a seat in the dail.

They already told Labour to gently caress off when it was suggested. I found that pretty funny.

I will vote for SocDems in the hope that they can partake in a broad SF-led coalition with leftist tendencies (not that SF are especially leftist in a European sense). But I don't really expect them to hang tough if FFG offer them something good to support another Grand Coalition. Labour and Greens are just hosed tho

soc dems gave us that baldy prick but most of their other candidates are solid centre leftists. I wish they were more left than they are but they're way better than labour. I could see them going into government with SF over FF/FG/+whatever

He thinks he can change fianna fail from the inside, single-handedly. He's a very limited, not very bright person, who has convinced himself he can change a long- established, cunning, ugly party to make it 'different'. The Question IRL posted:The last time there was an "anyone but Simn Fein" scramble in the Dail, they were asked and they said no. I'm not saying "everything is bad" or whatever I'd just encourage voting for the larger left wing party (SF) ahead of the soc dems or voting for a more left wing party (PBP or whoevers local).

Yeah, this argument is kinda moot due to STV. Put the smaller party first and if they don't meet the quota it goes to the bigger party. Put the bigger party first and your vote might go to the smaller party on transfers but there is no guarantee. My preference last GE was PBP first because they are the furthest left and I spoke to my local candidate who addressed my concerns with them (mostly supporting a vote for Brexit in the North, even if it was from a left-wing criticism of the EU that I don't disagree with). She didn't get in so my vote went to the local SF candidate, then the other SF candidate, the the Green representative. We had no SocDems candidate and I was hardly going to give a vote to Labour. No decent independents in the area either.
