It is amazing how badly they fumbled the host change when all they had to do was slot Ken in there.

Hey, that's not fair. They totally couldn't find anyone who wanted to host Jeopardy for the 2 weeks after Ken's original run, so he just *had* to step in because the show must go on. Then, there was such an amazing public upwelling of support that he just had to be the host!

They had no loving plan at all for a new host when they knew Trebek was being eaten away by cancer. They probably had no plan even if he had lived long enough to fulfill his last contract and retired.

This whole shuffling of hosts and auditions has been a fuckin joke.

I dislike her so intensely. She makes the whole tone of the show so loving weird. The timing of everything is so hollow and... off.

I haven't been paying attention to the whole host thing at all and was just enjoying Amy's run. Do they plan on keeping her long-term?

The difference between her and Ken for the interview segments is insane. She just awkwardly no-sold the guy's silly 3 wishes thing. So uncomfortable.

The current plan for running out the season is to have Ken hosting the daily, syndicated shows (although Bialik has been hosting since last week, no one knows why), while Bialik hosts primetime specials, like the National College Tournament that begins airing tonight.

But Sony has been so goddamn opaque about the hiring process, and it feels very obvious that they want Bialik, it's impossible to tell.

Bialik and Ken are splitting the hosting duties on the daily shows through to the end of the season. It's not supposed to be only Ken, it's only Ken when Mayim's away filming her lovely sitcom.

But yeah the Sony execs definitely want her full time. It's going to be interesting how this plays out because I think public support for Ken to take on the role permanently is growing the more he gets to do the hosting.

When the split was announced, it was said that Jennings would do the daily syndicated stuff, and Bialik would do primetime specials like the tournament that started off as a shitshow tonight.

That was not the case. It was always said they would split “as their schedules allow”. Which was code for “Bialik when she can and Ken when she can’t.”

That was the original plan when they announced Mike Richards as the host- he would do the syndicated version and Mayim would do the specials. (How many specials were they planning on having, anyway?) Ever since Mike was fired, I'm not sure if they've been that clear on who the host of the syndicated version is. The only thing I've heard is some combination of Ken and Mayim until the end of the season. Maybe they clarified somewhere that I missed.

Looks like regular jeopardy is on here at 7:30, then the special from 8-9. Was Man meant to watch 90 minutes of jeopardy?

The tournament seems to be a prime time special thing (like Mayim was meant to host when that rear end in a top hat Mike Richards set himself up as the host) on ABC as counter programming to the Olympics. From what I’m hearing, it’s pretty clown shoes, even compared to the reduced viewership of the Olympics.

I started thinking about a Second Chance Tournament almost the day I started on Jeopardy!, when Jessica Stephens beat Matt Amodio, but lost to Jonathan Fisher by just $401. I thought, “Wow, wouldn’t it be a cool idea to have a tournament where we bring excellent contestants like Jessica back?”

I love that she's getting a chance to come back. She was a fantastic player and she just had terrible luck getting matched up against Fisher.

And about the college tournament format, that part of the article reads as the current EP explaining "the current state of Jeopardy is the way it is because of some poor decisions made by the previous EP and we are actively working to correct them."

Jeopardy seems to be in much more capable hands under Michael Davies.
