Sex & titillation worked for Game of Thrones because it's a dark fantasy about people making terrible choices for crass motivations. Tolkien's elves don't even like sex.
I feel like you're seeing a problem, when it's really an opportunity for them to expand on Tolkien's works. Show why the elves don't even like sex, completely uncensored, and they're gonna get a lot of buzz on social media. Maybe the male elf's dick detaches and gets absorbed instead of ejaculating, another one slowly growing back to replace the original. There are infinite possibilities really, for any showrunner brave enough.

When people say they're sexless, they mean there is a lack of passion/explicitly romantic relationships- this can be done without fully nude sex scenes though.

Personally I can't put a finger on why exactly the recent trend of more nudity and more explicit sex on TV is bad, necessarily. I guess it just feels kind of lazy? Like, we need to make Lord of the Rings edgier and more mature, let's show more nudity.

LOTR is deliberately written like a myth, so lots of things should go unexplained or unseen. That doesn't mean it can't feature things like sex (though the books didn't, so..), but it'll be really stupid if it's anything like GOT, which was basically doing the exact opposite -- showing the ugly reality of a magical fantasy setting.

It's like how Gandalf is a wizard but doesn't shoot fireballs. Half the time it seems like he's not doing anything at all.

I don't know why but this made me imagine Gandalf sitting down in front of the Bobs being prompted with "and what would you say you do here?"

yeah, dule hill and roday have fantastic chemistry which goes a really long way. it also has great guest stars, like the season 2 episode with Tim Curry who gives one of his best performances ever as an insufferable, pampered reality show judge

I never saw the movies but in general I think psych is basically the platonic ideal of casual viewing: funny, light, clever but not pretentious, and a predictable but never completely derivative take on the police procedural

The movie starts with the main character who started the red cross going to a concentration camp for Boers and saying this is really bad to Lord Kirchner who is overseeing the camp. I thought Lord Kirchner was going to be the bad guy, but he ends up being a rough but lovable mentor to the son of the main character. Lord Kirchners death is also shown as a tragedy that nearly ruined the war...

I don't understand what the Hollywood libs are trying to tell me anymore.

Also Hitler and Lenin meet in the end as rivals to set up the sequel.

they are definitely gonna have the heroes shoot Lenin if they make a sequel

Considering how the Hobbit movies pretended he didn’t exist in order to do some weird gross GaladrielXGandalf sexual tension. I’m betting Celeborn won’t exist and she’ll have a sex scene with young Gandalf. Doesn’t matter Gandalf isn’t around at this point in time, since they clearly don’t care about the books at this point.
