145, not as grim as the 17, but having to be on it 2h/day every day for years really took a toll on me

Try the 17A if you want really grim. The only bus I've ever been on where a 12 year old tried to mug me with an electric razor.

Guavanaut posted:"If we legalize cannabis, it's a step on the way to more dangerous and unknown things being legalized." I remember those days when illegal weed was being sprayed with micro-beads to bump up it's weight, so lots of people started switching to the legal headshop spice. I've known two people to go to psychiatric hospital and both happened after using spice. Though there was many more I knew on bath salts who could have used the care as well.

It wasn't long after the head shops closed that I saw my first meth freakout in the local post office. A lad was convinced that the teenagers at the end of the road were trying to start a fight and was making a good show of his self defence skills at them.

It was either that or the 145 where some lad got hosed out of an upstairs window for trying to stop a fight. I'm not entirely sure of the mechanics but I think they popped out the window pane first

I've been on one where the window was smashed by kids throwing stones at passing busses, so TBH those windows are way less sturdy than they'd need to be on that route.

"Their form was pure shite like, and the window barely even scratched me. Not a proper defenestration at aaaaaall, knowhatImean?" ETA: also reading that article it checks out, I remember seeing people hopping out the back of the upper decks a few times to escape ticket collectors around then, as well as one or two fights that ended with one lad holding the other half out and demanding an apology.

The RTE 9o clock news doing propaganda about how paying workers more will exacerbate inflation. Soundbites from loving Micheál and some oval office publican in my hometown pub in Cork. Can I please just have a crumb of Keynesian economics or government intervention

What I remember most about Kenny was his smug demeanour in the Dail, though Leo and Martin have that too so perhaps that's just a consequence of being Taoiseach. And I remember as rents were starting to get out of control he decided "keep the recovery going" was the slogan to campaign on. When criticised that many weren't feeling the recovery he trotted out that anecdote of a pleb criticising the economy while holding a pint in each hand.

He was really good as leader of the opposition just smuggly making GBS threads on Fianna Fáil all the time, but the second he got into power it became extremely obvious that being smug was all he had.

Watching CBlive Sinn Fein debate on catch-up and the state of the anti crowd they managed to rustle up. First was a southside lady who owns her own home says she couldn't vote for them because of the troubles. Despite her age meaning she wasn't even an adult by the time the GFA was signed. Second was a big beef farmer and "accidental landlord" who is happy because now house prices are so high he can sell his rental, assuming at a large profit. He'd never have gotten such high house prices under SF. Third was a property developer who sued the state to stop them using NAMA to build social and affordable homes. I thought this was meant to be a hit piece against SF but I can't see anyone looking at this who's who of "I'm alright Jack's" saying in roundabout language how they like high house prices.

They have Eddie Hobbs now introduced simply as a "Financial Advisor" and he's using the 2 cows analogy to describe how FFG follow sensible capitalism and SF are disastrous socialists. Capitalism: You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull. Socialism: You have two cows. The government comes and gives one to your bone idle neighbour. Claire Byrne telling the SF TD that people will feel a chill down their spine if Eddie Hobbs is right and FDI leaves the country. I'd feel a chill down my spine if he's right for once about anything economically as it surely means the end of days is upon us. Marenghi fucked around with this message at 16:15 on Feb 15, 2022 |
