I feel like the abovementioned adventure game logic helps with that. Like, normally you'd expect some ridiculous convoluted solution start to finish, but no, the dude just carries a lighter. Which isn't exactly something you'd be surprised someone would have in their pocket.

Yeah, the sky has been red the whole time in the mirror world. You can see it in some of the skyline shots in the alley.

Yeah, you can see the sky when they arrive in 419, and there's a couple of strips where they show the sky some more (mostly with the corpse pile around 437 and thereabouts) and it's red in this world
