I've managed to dodge any major plot spoilers up to this point so I'll be very excited to go into it with a fresh set of eyes on Friday. I'm intrigued by some of the reviews that say the narrative "gets too sci-fi" because it makes me wonder what in the world those people were thinking when they played Horizon Zero Dawn.

I cleared my work schedule for Monday so I could play video game and yesterday I got subpoenaed as a witness in a murder trial that starts Monday. Someone parked a homicide victim's car in front of my house, and I have to be ready to testify that I didn't see a god drat thing.

I am now officially 66%+ completed with HZD and I've heard Lance Reddick speak exactly once. I have spoiled the story for myself so I know what I have waiting, but TBH this is the absolute first open world game where I've ran around doing side missions exclusively. I don't even like the combat in this game that much, but everything just comes together to make me keep chasing the next coffee mug shaving oil receptacle  I'm gonna end up hunting down a PS5 just for HFW

There are a couple of possibilities. The pre-Zero Dawn AI Vast Silver which was supposedly destroyed. The colony ship Odyssey which was supposedly lost after launch. Or it could be a new thing which hasn't been introduced yet, but those are the loose threads we know of. It seems likely we'll visit the site of Faro's death but I kinda hope he's not part of the live present-day plot. He died hundreds of years ago, going beyond the reach of the present day, thinking he saved the world. You can't do anything about this or even express your anger at something approximating him like you're the AI in roko's basilisk. Are you implying that AI are inherently bad and shouldn't be trusted with scary concepts like hot fusion plasma? It's not like they can redirect the heat to rebel against their creators, since a plasma reaction is ridiculously feeble. The slightest error turns it off like a candle flame in a hurricane. That's also why an AI control is useful here. Think less of the murderbot and more of the AI keeping the Yellowstone volcano stable.
