It's always great when there is ludo-narrative assonance , but it's wholey unrealistic to expect all games to pull a "spec ops the line" or a "Tacoma" (both of which had non standard development I love cinema and I think marvel movies suck on the whole, but they are atleast functional, but imagine how dumb you would sound saying "marvel movies don't respect your intelligence ,not like Kubrick or tarkovsky" Strong 14yr old discovering Metallica energy

But Dark Souls *does* have a plot. It has a expository cutscene at the start. It heaves with writing. This guy has a beef with the presentation of most plots, and claims that he just wants games to stop having stories, which is clearly not what he wants. For gently caress's sake.

I think the difficulty is way overhyped. I'm poo poo at games and I can play Dark Souls. You just need patience and the equanimity to not give too much of a poo poo. There are a lot of reasons to hate and not play it but 'it's too hard' is a bit overblown I think.

Some games do just dump exposition in an uninteresting way but I dunno if that's the norm or if it needs to be expressed in a dumbass comic. I don't think it's really an epidemic in gaming that needs to be addressed. Sidenote: My friend was super hyped for Lost Ark and told me to play, why not it's free. Normally I'm a sucker for dumbass fantasy lore and all their fake facts. I think I probably spent over a hundred hours reading that one Warhammer 40k thread that used to float around GBS, and I have zero interest in playing that game. The story starts out super fuckin lame. I pushed through because whatever it's a dumb weak story that's fine as long as it's fun, the story isn't the point. Diablo 1 and 2 had barely the framework of a story, but still great games in my opinion. Holy gently caress does Lost Ark just relentlessly hammer you with so much stupid loving story and exposition that doesn't loving matter. This is the first time I can remember where I'm skipping through all the dialogue/story and cutscenes of a game. But now the game is revealed and it's run to some tiny little quest hub, run back and forth between 2-3 NPCs like 40 times skipping all their dumbass loving dialogue, and then run to an area about 1.5 minutes away and kill monsters that present no challenge and collect 1 or 2 thingies that are right in front of you, and head to the next little quest area to turn them in and repeat. My friend said not to worry because the endgame is real fun, it just takes like 20-30 hours of playing to get there. 20-30 hours so I can start having fun what the gently caress?

Anyone else see all those GME and superstonk subs come up in their feed all the time? I read the occasional one that pops up and they're all deluded as gently caress lol. They still think the big squeeze is coming and they're all going to be rich. They don't realise they are the idiots left holding the bag after what happened last year. It would be kind of sad if they weren't all annoying dipshits.
