RPGs are solved. For the best jRPG experience, you got DQ11, for the best crunch you got Divinity Original Sin 2, for the best story you got Planescape Torment, and the best overall experience you've got Baldurs Gate 2. And all of them are on the Switch. There's a reason the console was forged by God himself in the fires of Earth's core.

I wouldn’t call DQ the best it’s the most safe. If you want a simple clean experience that’s what DQ is set up for. If not it can be kind of meh

DOS2 has you teleporting enemies into tar pits, that you then set on fire, then you explode their corpse to damage their friends whilst your skeleton character walks unharmed through a poisonous cloud to hold back the rest of the mob which are dieing of it. Neither is inherently better. Some days you want a nice easy time and watch numbers get bigger, and other times you want to fist fight Kasparovs brain.

Golden Sun is fine until you decide to replay it and get annoyed at how loving long it takes to get out of the introduction. The LP was correct to tear those games a new one.

Yeah, I’d much rather play Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age and spend 70 hours letting random battles play themselves out automatically in fast forward. Now THAT’S engaging gameplay.

Played Tetris Effect Connected while high (just edibles). Literally felt trapped during the ending sequence. It was amazing. Beforehand, I checked out a bunch of the effect modes, and holy poo poo for a game about Tetris, it definitely has a lot of good modes.

JRPGS are super neat and also horrifically boring and I play all of them for several hours before quitting. I've probably played every mainline Final Fantasy and never beat a single one. In fact, I think the only JRPGs I've ever beaten are: Pokemon Blue, Pearl, X, and Sword Chrono Trigger Dragon Quest I and XI
