I haven't beat Blood and Wine, but the base game is one of very few videogames I've beaten in the last decade. It's like that, Horizon: Zero Dawn and Breath of the Wild.

The problem I had with souls games was after playing some on rails hack and slash games like God of War and other movement systems like rear end Creed I just couldn't get into the movement. I was fine after about 30 mins with the combat system because despite the ardent fans insistence on how tough the combat is 90% of it can be kind of worked with a recipe of holding guard, dodging or parrying when the enemy attack animation starts and then swinging back and for most of the rank and file it's pretty straight forward but the inability to simply hop or mantle over a tiny ledge was just infuriating. That and the pace of running that was at best a light jog it just felt too clunky to ever give me that enjoyable flow.

Which is kind of a shame because I absolutely love the aesthetic. I'm so tempted to buy Elden Ring just because of how it looks.

Yeah that's what got me too. I knew the memes of "circle strafing", but that is basically most of the game. The "hard" difficulty is 1) most bosses take forever to kill and 2) most bosses do tons of damage to the character.

So the game is less of a technical gameplay challenge and more of an ADHD check. Can you pay attention to this for X amount of time???

Speed runs of Dark Souls games are fun to watch because they do insane things that would get anyone else killed to accomplish things most players can do by just taking their time and using standard turtle tactics.

If it’s taking you more than about 5 minutes to beat dark souls bosses I have no idea what you’re doing. I don’t think I’ve even used a shield to block, maybe just while goofing around. I feel like you’re describing a totally different game than the ones I played. Hell, two of them don’t even have shields in them

I haven’t checked the Aldi most recently closest to me, but the one in the last area I lived in was like this. Very tiny produce and meat sections at the back corner of the store and the rest of it was dry goods and microwaveable frozen stuff.

Their $2-$5 bottles of wine weren’t terrible though.

We mostly picked up snacks and staples at Aldi today. It's definitely not a place we'd be able to complete a whole shopping list, mainly because we have 2 teenagers and a preteen. Some of the things we bought were purely just to try a different brand at a cheaper price. I don't think anyone with a full household would be able to get a full shop done there.

Don’t worry, cops are making sure to scold the naughty protesters for not being police friendly enough, so we know who the true victims are

In the press release, Portland police wrote, “The scene was extremely chaotic, and a number of witnesses were uncooperative with responding officers. Most people on scene left without talking to police. Detectives believe a large number of people either witnessed what happened, or recorded the incident as it unfolded. This is a very complicated incident, and investigators are trying to put this puzzle together without having all the pieces.”
