It’s digital with an iPad Pro and pencil. Some great apps on there, mostly using procreate for this. Queendom lineup is out: Mnet Queendom 2 - Brave Girls, VIVIZ, WJSN, LOONA, Kep1er, Hyolyn Kep1er is still a weird but hilariously MNET thing to do. Super excited for Loona. Sad about no DC but excited for whatever they’ve been working on.

That line up looks kind of weird, outside of WJSN I'd peg most of the others to be in the "general public more likely to have heard of them" group. WJSN I just don't know enough about to know if they fit into that as well. In other news, sorn is having a comeback this week looks like.

Everglow hasn't had a win on M Countdown, which was probably a requirement for everyone. Even if Viviz hadn't won, they probably would have grandfathered them in as Gfriend, and Kepler was guaranteed music show wins with their album sales. That said, I feel like there'd be a better show if Dreamcatcher and Stayc were in. You'd get some killer remixes out of Leez & Ollounder and Black Eyed Pilseung. Maybe a miracle will happen and Hwang Hyun will work on Loona's songs again.

Yeah Loona (domestically) and WJSN are perfect picks for the underdog group theme the show is supposed to be. Viviz don’t bother me because while they come from a popular group, it is a new thing and a soft restart. Brave Girls are a good choice I think for their story. DC Everglow and Stayc would have been great. Kep1er being there is dumb and i feel bad for those girls having to do two MNET shows back to back. They should be spending this time building their discography quickly anyways.

re: Kep1er, consider that they can't do the festival circuit or start doing concerts right away. Plus the end point of Queendom being a comeback will line up nicely with when they would likely be dropping new music, anyway. Even with their short limited time on their contract, I think it makes sense for them to go on another music TV show right away considering the pandemic means they can't promote in the same manner other Produce groups did. Plus they are a group of mostly dancers and Queendom is an a+ way to show that off with the performance oriented stages. I wish they hadn't cast another solo act for this season, but at least it's Hyolyn-- an obscenely powerful all rounder and won't have the disadvantages Bom did as just a vocalist. Lineup in general is great imo. Also Kep1er already has an M Countdown win. Though I am not sure that having music show wins is a requirement this go around.

Also worth noting that Queendom is not nearly the same kind of show or competition as Produce/GP999/other MNET fare. Other than the insane schedule and turnaround on performances, the first season was mostly just the groups being incredibly wholesome and forging friendships. Those who competed seemed to really love their time on the show and time spent with their colleagues and seniors. Hell nobody even fell into last place enough times to be eliminated. It's not like they're being thrown back into the survival meat grinder. Queendom is an excellent opportunity that propelled groups who didn't win to great heights last time.

I really like the intro/first verse of this song, I'm not sold on the chorus/shift yet though after a couple listens its settled in somewhat. Its not bad, I just think that my mind was really expecting the track to go in a different direction after the really driving beat at the start. Pulling back lets them play with stuff musically without having to go really crazy so it makes sense to do it. I do think they're a group where their choreo adds a lot to the song as a performance. Its maybe the worst thing about their music videos: you really don't get an idea of how neat/tight their choreo is. A decent amount of the time the choreo for a group feels sort of like a checkbox, and when it doesn't (stayc, pixy, gfriend, chungha, key, the boy group with the one that is all about time/clocks, etc) it always impresses me with how much it can add. I don't think it can save a bad song, but it really enhances good ones. Wearing shoes as a vest just doesn't do it for me though, that stylist needs to be slapped haha.

Yea not doing it for me, feels too much like they're trying to rely on the gimmick. In general though I dislike songs that shift to other songs, it takes more effort to not make it disjointed and most of the time that its been used since SNSD's song did it they instead try to emphasize the disjointedness which sounds bad and feels lazy. I know others like that style, and if nothing else it'll get them listens on the track as people want to judge for themselves.

O.O is like someone found a discarded SM demo, played about half of it, went "nah" and hit next to play the new Itzy song, played about half of that, and then went back to the demo for some reason. The individual parts are... fine? But I think they would have actually worked better as individual songs, given a chance to get fully fleshed out. We joked about Next Level, but this really is two totally incongruous songs smashed together. Tank surprisingly seems like a much better song, but I don't know if it's YouTube loving the audio quality or not, but the bangin' Dem Jointz instrumental seems utterly buried in the mix, it's like VOCALS with a hint of instruments. Lemme check it on Apple Music. ...nope, it's the actual song. I almost never say this, but the vocals are TOO forward in the mix.

I wasn't joking when I talked about next level being basically 2 songs mashed together, and had a similar conversation.
