right. a large part of the russian military are low morale, low training conscripts. however, russia does have a world class core to their infantry and armored forces, and these are the guys rolling into ukraine tonight

think of "contract troops" as professional volunteer soldiers instead of the guys compelled by law to show up. american troops also have to sign a contract when they enlist. the russian "contract troops" aren't mercs, they're the career soldiers

also from my lovely read, alot of the Russians military is basicaly either zoomer conscripts or mercs. so your basicaly sending in zoomer canon fodder and paid psychos and various spec ops vs well trained and very motivated army and a population that may very well fight on because they have seen what happens under russian occupation. plus the various militia groups, lovely or other wise.

i mean i am hoping its just for their dead.

The larger military of 1 million that can be called up are conscripts/reservists. They were not mobilized. The current military force ~200K that's on the border is the active professional military and mercs.

Numbers don't really matter much though due to the astronomical discrepancy in air power.

To be fair, they aren't the only one in this thread.

The great thing about the thousands of slaughtered Palestinian children is that they can't pull away when you fondle them or sniff their hair.

That's a Biden success story.

Would probably make things worse at this exact moment. Even if it was natural causes it's way too suspicious, no one would believe it wasn't an assassination and some Stalin-level psycho would likely take over

It looks like it flew over Odessa rather than landing and is now heading north to somewhere. A second A400m is currently following the same route over the black sea.

A couple private flights also just left Kyiv inc. one that looks bound to Ankara. It's most likely a Turkish evac.

I imagine things will really pop off once they're gone.

His legal successor is the Prime Minister, who currently is a technocratic civil servant. But he likely wouldn't be able to stop the machine that's already in motion.

yeah. I am in the US and i feel the same way. in some ways, the waiting is the worst part, because you know the bad poo poo is coming but you don't know when and you can't do anything until it happens. its hosed. i wonder if this is how some folks felt before ww1 started, watching the july crisis start and speed up.

its also nuts watching some world leader use loving pre great war rhetoric. like sure empires still do imperial poo poo constantly but they cloak it in poo poo and often legit believe the euphemisms and poo poo but this is loving nuts because its so loving antiquated and backwards.
