BiggerBoat posted:I remember not too long ago and even when I was growing up that Russia = Bad. Russia was still bad to the right up until 2016. Its just Trump's naked embrace of all authoritarians and in particular Putin since he is himself so Pro-Trump that suddenly made Vladimir Putin their hero. Although there probably was a little random hero worship of the guy during Obama's term. Trump after all didn't come from nowhere. But like Romney as recently as the 2012 election was calling Russia the greatest threat to America.

Remember when Romney said that Russia was a threat during one of the debates and Obama said "The 80s called, they want their foreign policy back." Ha ha, he sure did drone bomb a bunch of people in the Middle East. BiggerBoat posted:I remember not too long ago and even when I was growing up that Russia = Bad. If you mention this around a right winger they will respond by saying "BUT AKSHUALLY Trump put the harshest sanctions on Russia that there's ever been, so he can't possibly have liked Putin!" Never mind that Biden is also going to put sanctions on Russia and this proves that he is weak and pathetic.

I knew quite a few proto-chuds who were rabidly in favor of Putin before Trump announced he was running for president, because Putin was encouraging Russians to attack homosexuals, Muslims, and not-white people. Oddly, several of these proto-chuds were former military, so I never quite managed to figure out how they squared their Putin worship with having been in an institution that spent a half century planning to fight Russia.

Scholtz posted:What are the repercussions for doing a charge back at Truth dot com? Probably depends on who their payment processor is. Most of the big payment processors will either just eat the chargeback or respond with a form letter telling the credit card company that dispute the chargeback (which the card company usually sides with), but some of the sketchy ones that handle really shady porn sites or "adult dating" services will threaten people with fraud charges if they try and do a chargeback. I have no clue what payment processers think of Trump, but I'd assume gullible chuds are good business, so Truth may not have any issues with that side of the business.

I thought that $250 thing was bunk, is there more evidence than a single screenshot from a different RW grift app? At any rate, I bet payment processors are delighted to work with the grifters since they will definitely auto opt-in their users for any subscription fees and plenty of them won't remember to cancel even long after the app

Right wing chuds don't mind Russia right now because it's not Communists. Repubs don't hate Russia as an entity, they hate anything smacking of leftist politics and that's def not the guy in charge now. The guy in charge now is a right wing, strong armed authoritarian chud who MAY have been a communist at some point in time working under the communists -- but Trump was also left wing once until he got better/memory holed. He's one of them. They love it.

Putin has been pretty adamant about recreating the Soviet Union. While it may not be communistic as before the 80s, it will definitely be totalitarian and a threat to our economic interests. They will care when a non-Trump candidate is in office. Then it will return to Pinko Commies and a Red Scare that goes right with Texas’ current poo poo works.

Repubs don't hate Russia as an entity, they hate anything smacking of leftist politics and that's def not the guy in charge now. Pretty much. I remember way back in 2002 when I was researching David Duke, and his page was literally 60% fawning on Russia as the big repository of white, christian, deeply conservative reinforcements to push white power to its peak in the new century. Brazil's megachud president Bolsonaro was there just last week with his son (and social media handler) to negotiate troll farms and such for the coming election, and actually said "Brazil can help with Russia's defenses". A local right-wing terrorist who firebombed a local humor show fled there, and brazilian police canceled his extradiction request so he can hang there and be happy. There is still a split because Putin backs people they love to hate, like Maduro, but if people can turn a blind eye to the West fellating Saudi Arabia nonstop, they can accept pretty much anything as long as they see it harming someone they hate.
