Winterbeast gives me "bad adventure game" vibes, like a lost Alone in the Dark or Dark Seed or something. Just the random mishmash of a bestiary, things happening for no discernible reason, terrible acting and justifications for the action (such as it is)... maybe something of a feedback loop since titles like that are new enough to be influenced by Z movies of yore but it's still just that kind of strange to me.

Lol, I thought the exact same thing at the scene when the head ranger finds the dead lady in the lodge. It feels like someone strung together a bunch of shots from an FMV game.

Bridget and Mary Jo have gone backwards in time and done a riff of the first "Of the Bride" movies, "Children of the Bride." This one has Patrick Duffy!

I just watched their riff of "Lucky Day". Holy crap that scene at the funeral.

Their latest Mary Higgins Clark release "He Sees You When You're Sleeping" is also a real banger. Despite the Santa-y name the movie is about a jerk yuppie who dies and has to do a good deed to go to heaven.

I just can't stand the "Of the Bride" movies. There's just nothing stand-out or memorable about them other than the occasional appearance of An Actor You've Heard Of, the characters are paper-thin archetypes, most of the male characters are interchangeable nonentities -- nothing about them feels like an actual family other than getting a bunch of C-listers together who are roughly all the same age as a framework to force hackneyed domestic drama onto. OK so one of the kids is a nun despite the family never demonstrating any religious tendency in any other context, but the "pregnant nun" drama was too good to resist (Children of the Bride of Christ). There's a daughter who's the "rebel" and you know she's a rebel because she says so in tedious expository speeches, smokes(!), and occasionally wears a black mesh top. One of the sons hits on people a lot, another one, like, works on cars and lovingly calls his wife a "bitch", whatever.

The only saving grace is hearing Bridget and Mary Jo crack each other up.

Anyway someone needs to unearth the other Teen-Agers movies.

Microbudget Canadian SOV horror film.

Though I hope they don’t cut the opening scene of a woman silently stripping all her clothes off in the gnarliest looking basement in cinema history while you’re thinking “oh honey no, not for Things.”

Trust me, you haven't lived until you've seen two greasy Canucks watching Amber Lynn "acting" as a news reporter, in between channel surfing for porn and drinking watery beer (quite literally, as in they watered their beer down with water from the sink)

Looks like Things is still in works as this week's release is The Retrievers, a terrible action movie with loving racist credits as it lists a group of characters under the heading "Wetbacks"

Also includes an incredibly stupid main character who joins a secret government wetworks team and then is surprised when it turns out he's tasked with doing some shady poo poo.
